Position Summary:
The Health Information Management Technician Lead is responsible for leading a team of health information management technicians on a day-to-day basis. This role involves overseeing the operations of the HIM team and being able to assist with staff questions and to cover positions, when needed.

What you will do:

  • Supervise, train, and provide guidance to a team of health information management technicians.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members, ensuring efficient and accurate performance of duties.
  • Oversee the organization, updating, and maintenance of physical and electronic patient health records, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage requests for medical records from authorized individuals, ensuring compliance with patient privacy laws (HIPAA).
  • Oversee the preparation and release of medical records to healthcare providers, patients, legal entities, and government agencies as required.
  • Stay informed about and ensure adherence to health information management regulations, including HIPAA and other relevant standards.
  • Assist with internal and external audits to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Utilize Endeavor Health’s EMR to maintain and retrieve electronic health records.
  • Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of electronic health record systems, providing support and expertise to team members.

What you will need:

  • Education: Bachelors Degree Health Information Management Preferred or Bachelors Degree Health Administration Preferred
  • Experience: At least 3 years experience in a health information management or related role.
  • Certification/License: Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) - American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) Preferred
