The listed pay range or pay rate reflects compensation for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position. Actual compensation may differ depending on assigned hours and position status (e.g., part-time).

Responsible for daily operations of Release of Information (ROI) team to ensure accurate, compliant and timely processing and disclosure of protected health information in accordance with Capital Health, HIPAA, state and federal regulations and industry best practices. Demonstrates advanced knowledge in release of information and understanding of medical record principles. Assists HIM management team in organization of department to effectively facilitate completion of multiple projects simultaneously. Participates in interviewing, hiring, and training of new staff members.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Associate's or bachelor’s degree in health information management preferred.
Experience: Three years' experience in an acute care hospital HIM department required. One year in leadership or supervisory capacity experience preferred. RHIT/RHIA preferred.
Other Credentials:
Knowledge and Skills: Possesses excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and ability to respond quickly in a fast-paced environment.
Special Training: Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite applications.
Mental, Behavioral and Emotional Abilities: Ability to work in environment using multiple EMR systems. Excellent interpersonal, observation, analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent customer service skills, strong critical thinking skills, ability to work in sometimes stressful environment. Perform detail-oriented tasks with high level of accuracy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Leads and prioritizes Release of Information and correspondence workflow in HIM department to assure accurate and timely ROI operations in accordance with hospital, state and federal requirements.
Responsible for staff training, scheduling, conflict resolution, performance evaluations and assists HIM leadership in identifying career advancement opportunities
Facilitates resolution of complex or escalated ROI issues with patients, providers, attorneys, payers, law enforcement, and internal departments
Assists in monitoring of ROI performance metrics for continuous improvement in timely and accurate processing of release of information requests consistent with industry standards
Monitors and facilitates resolution of requests on hold for various reasons
Participates in creating a collaborative environment with a focus on team work to promote excellent customer service to obtain successful outcomes
Works closely with Revenue Cycle, Risk Management and an array of hospital and Capital Health Medical Group (CHMG) team members to facilitate customer satisfaction and successful organizational outcomes.
Assists in development and updates department procedures and job aids.
Troubleshoots issues with systems and assists with facilitating concerns to IT and follows up to ensure resolution.
Maintains knowledge of current privacy regulations, updates policies and communicates department updates to staff as needed.
Represents hospital and CHMG ROI in interdisciplinary committees to provide ROI subject matter expertise.
Adapts to changing department demands required for higher department efficiency.
