Within this role we will ask you to cultivate an empowered team of high performing engineers who are deeply passionate about building quality software products. You will foster ongoing agile engineering transformation and continuous improvement throughout the organization, advocating for common engineering patterns, efficiency, quality, resiliency, security and performance.  

   

The Software Engineering Manager owns the output of a single work area within Engineering, within our Mainframe PBM Technology organization who has experience with Mainframe COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, Teradata. This role utilizes in-depth professional knowledge but is guided by functional practices and focuses on implementing and executing strategies within own department/discipline/team. This role requires building strong matrix relationships with business partners, peer engineering teams, architects, infrastructure engineers, and our offshore partners.  

 

Responsibilities 

 

  • Lead a fast moving agile team, working with internally developed tools and technologies such as Mainframe COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, Teradata.

  • Support other product delivery partners in the successful build, test, and release of solutions.  

  • Solve problems by crafting software solutions using maintainable and modular code.  

  • Lead daily team standup meetings where you'll give and receive updates on the current backlog and challenges.  

  • Provides thought leadership and technical expertise across the PBM technology organization.  

  • Utilize end-to-end knowledge of product ecosystem, business transactions, technology stack, dependencies, and engineering practices to ensure applications are designed and constructed using solid engineering patterns.   

  • Encourage innovation and diversity of thought to solve complex business problems.  

  • Partner with business and technical product owners to optimize working relationships and clarify roles and responsibilities.  

  • Takes accountability for the technology assets owned by the team. 

 

Qualifications 

 

Required Skills: 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization. 

  • Strong influencing/negotiation skills. 

  • Strong interpersonal/relationship management skills. 

  • Strong time and project management skills. 

  • Familiarity with agile methodology including SCRUM team leadership.  

  • Familiarity with modern delivery practices such as continuous integration, behavior/test driven development, and specification by example. 

  • Hands on experience with Mainframe COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, Teradata.

 

Required Experience & Education: 

  • 11 - 13 years of professional experience including people leader experience. 

  • Must have a Bachelor of computer engineering degree 

  • Proven experience leading/managing technical teams with a passion for the developing the talent within the team.   

  • Experience with vendor management in an onshore/offshore model. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization. 

  • Preferred: Industry certifications such as PMP, Scrum Master, or Six Sigma Green Belt 

 

 

Desired Experience: 

  • Healthcare experience including Disease Management 

  • Coachingof team members 

   

 

 

Location & Hours of Work  

  • Full-time position, working 40 hours per week. Expected overlap with US hours as appropriate 

  • Primarily based in the Innovation Hub in Hyderabad, India in a hybrid working model (3 days WFO and 2 days WAH)
