Risk & Underwriting Lead Analyst - HIH

Job Summary:

This role in the growing Dental organization will positively influence the Select Segment’s growth and profitability. You will be joining a group of Underwriters and Sales leaders to drive positive outcomes in the segment through both presale and book of business activity and provide a broad risk management perspective to strategic conversations.

Our responsibilities span all regions in the country, and our team interacts with the CHC Underwriting and Sales teams regularly. We are in an era of positive change, and insights around effectiveness for our business are welcome. Critical outcomes include supporting the markets with key risk and financial information, ensuring best practices, and sharing market insights to optimize the overall portfolio.

Responsibilities:

• Manage a Dental book of business focused on attaining profitable growth, persistency, and earnings.
• Identify and provide risk and financial insights to make better case decisions; provide a broad risk management perspective to strategic conversations. 
• Develop and monitor account earnings plans to achieve growth and profitability.
• Perform case-specific risk assessments and rate development for presale and inforce Select Accounts.
• Develop strategic recommendations related to market competition, products and pricing, and conduct customer negotiations with Sales.
• Partner with Sales and act as a financial consultant on case-specific issues.
• Identify and influence underwriting best practices and provide input on product development and pricing.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience strongly preferred
•  5 – 8 years of health benefits underwriting experience
• Experience in Dental or Medical Underwriting is strongly preferred
• In-depth manual and experience rating, funding options, translating competitors’ experience and plan designs, product, and financial knowledge
• Strong technical and analytical skills; critical and creative thinking
• Ability to assess financial risk and make effective decisions based on multiple information sources, and in-depth knowledge of financial implications, both internal and external
• Thorough knowledge of factors that influence market and competitive conditions
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Team building/positive influence on peers and organization
• Work with autonomy while producing desired results for the business
