Position Summary:

Provide strategic leadership and tactical execution of Health Economics, Market Access & Reimbursement (HEMAR) for LIVANOVA France. The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with country level commercial leaders to establish the HEMAR priorities for the French business, including applying for reimbursement for new products, managing reimbursement/pricing reviews for existing products, seeking health economic solutions to driving adoption of LIVANOVA products into hospitals and engaging with HEMAR stakeholders. The individual will have responsibility for the full portfolio of LIVANOVA products, including neuromodulation and cardiopulmonary brands. The postholder will also be expected to engage in country level government affairs to monitor emerging opportunities and threats to LIVANOVA and to suggest appropriate strategies. In addition to the responsibility for France, the successful candidate may have the opportunity to lead EU level initiatives, working with Market Access leads from other EU countries. 

General Responsibilities:

  • Represent the HEMAR function within France, including participation in country level leadership teams and establishing a clear, prioritized HEMAR plan for France.
  • Lead on development of reimbursement applications for new products, including identification of evidence needs, input to pricing and determining the timing of applications.
  • Lead on reimbursement/pricing reviews of existing products to ensure profitability of France sales.
  • Engage with country level government affairs/advocacy bodies to understand the emerging reimbursement landscape and identify opportunities/threats to LIVANOVAs commercial performance.
  • Support the commercial functions by developing and applying health economic value propositions with regards to LIVANOVAs innovative technologies and present the health economic cases to customers.
  • Identify opportunities to improve adoption of LIVANOVA products, for example through recognition in guidelines or professional body advocacy.
  • Support training of local market sales professionals in health economics & market access principles.
  • Engage in EU HEMAR team development, including sharing of best practice with other countries and occasional leadership of EU level projects.

Skills and Experience:

  • A graduate-level qualification in a relevant field and/or relevant applied experience to illustrate a deep understanding of health economics/market access/reimbursement. 
  • 5+ years’ experience in an applied Health Economics/Market Access/ Reimbursement role in the medical device industry, with a strong track record of establishing close alignment with commercial functions.
  • Deep understanding of the French reimbursement system for medical technologies, including applying for reimbursement for new technologies and price management of mature technologies.
  • Good understanding of the hospital market in France.
  • Good understanding of evidence-based medicine principles, including interpretation of clinical and health economic methods and health technology assessment. 
  • Experience of working with local market medical device industry associations & relevant professional bodies.
  • An established network of relevant health economic stakeholders across the country would be beneficial.
  • Experience of neuromodulation and/or cardiovascular disease is desirable but not essential.

Education:

  • A post-graduate qualification in a relevant field, such as health economics, public health, healthcare administration or epidemiology is desirable. 
  • Applied training in health economic methods/market access is desirable.
  • Fluent in French and English.

Travel Requirements:

  • Estimate ~10-20% of time required for travel, primarily within France/EU. Occasional international travel may be required to participate in global leadership/strategy initiatives.
