We are seeking a talented individual to join our SECOR team at Mercer. This role will be based in New York City and offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office.

As a Hedge Fund Research Analyst, you will gain exposure to hedge fund managers, assist in data collection and analysis, and support the preparation of research and client reports. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop foundational skills in hedge fund research and alternative asset management by supporting senior analysts and contributing to qualitative and quantitative research efforts.

We will count on you to:

Manager Research

  • Support senior analysts in interviewing hedge fund and alternative asset managers to assist in qualitative due diligence
  • Assist in interacting with managers employing quantitative and systematic strategies
  • Help write research reports and provide input on manager evaluations
  • Contribute to client reports covering market activity and portfolio performance
  • Assist in building and maintaining the manager research database and classification system

Quantitative Research

  • Use tools such as eVestment to screen funds, maintain manager peer groups, and assist in performance reporting
  • Support portfolio optimization efforts by helping with data preparation and rebalancing tasks

Risk Management

  • Collect returns and exposure data to support performance attribution and risk analysis

Industry Research

  • Monitor developments in alternative asset classes and inform colleagues and clients accordingly
  • Analyze industry publications to support thought leadership initiatives and marketing efforts

What you need to have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Science, or a related field
  • Internship experience at the minimum, or up to 2 years of professional work experience in investment management, hedge fund research, or a related area
  • Strong interest in financial markets and alternative investments, including hedge funds and private investments
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort with data analysis tools
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive, team-oriented mindset
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Marsh is committed to hybrid work, which includes the flexibility of working remotely and the collaboration, connections and professional development benefits of working together in the office. All Marsh colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $64,800 to $129,600.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
