Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines and mechanical systems on heavy equipment and fleet vehicles.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on trucks, trailers, and industrial equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems including pumps, cylinders, valves, and hoses.
  • Conduct mechanical repairs on engines, transmissions, braking systems, and powertrains.
  • Perform welding and fabrication work to repair equipment components and structures.
  • Repair or replace worn or damaged mechanical parts and assemblies.
  • Test equipment following repair to ensure proper operation and safety.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and service documentation.
  • Operate diagnostic tools and specialized equipment to identify mechanical issues
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and company procedures.
  • Maintain tools, shop equipment, and work areas in safe and clean condition.
  • Assist with equipment inspections and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with operations and maintenance teams to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Other duties as required.

Experience and Knowledge Expectations:

  • Journeyperson certification as a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician, Industrial Mechanic (Millwright), or equivalent trade.
  • Red Seal certification considered an asset.
  • Must have own tools and equipment but a truck will be provided.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license, and current Drivers Abstract with less than 6 demerits.
  • Experience working with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and heavy equipment maintenance.
  • Welding and fabrication experience (MIG, stick, or equivalent).
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, schematics, and service manuals
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs and fleet equipment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a shop or field environment
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license, and current Drivers Abstract with less than 6 demerits.
  • Have Airbrake endorsement or be willing to obtain.
  • Applicant must pass pre-employment drug and screening.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR or willingness to obtain.
