The Position

As a Policy and Value Partner (PVP), you will be a key driver in delivering life-changing healthcare to patients by strategically influencing stakeholder perceptions and decision-making. You will engage with both internal and external stakeholders to shape the broader policy ecosystem and demonstrate the immense value of our innovative medicines. By providing sound strategic advice and developing evidence-based materials, you will help Roche Australia navigate the socio-political environment to achieve its long-term goals.

What you will be working on includes:

In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for a variety of strategic and advocacy activities, including:

  • Policy Strategy: Developing and implementing public policy projects designed to shape the socio-political environment in favor of patient access.

  • Evidence Development: Conducting research and analysis to create evidence-based policy materials, strategies, and advocacy plans relating to Roche’s pipeline and reimbursement systems.

  • Environmental Scanning: Monitoring government communications and actions to identify potential opportunities and threats within the socio-political landscape.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Designing and executing overarching engagement plans for political and health stakeholders to support corporate and portfolio goals.

  • Global Collaboration: Engaging with Roche’s global public policy and market access teams to leverage globally-generated positioning and resources.

  • Strategic Advice: Providing and acting upon sound strategic counsel to the Enabling Team and other internal cross-functional groups.

  • Reputation Management: Developing a strategic plan to build Roche Australia’s reputation as a creative and forward-thinking policy partner.

  • Communication Design: Crafting clear, tailored, and timely communications and narratives for both internal and external audiences.

  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborating with Therapeutic Area Squads and the Value and Access Chapter to ensure policy positions are shared and aligned across the organization.

  • External Advocacy: Leading engagement with key external political stakeholders, including MPs, Senators, and health advocacy organizations.

Who you are:

You are a strategic communicator with high interpersonal intelligence and a deep understanding of the Australian political landscape. You bring:

  • Educational Background: A tertiary qualification in communications, public relations, health policy, or business/commerce.

  • Industry Expertise: Proven experience in public policy or government engagement within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, or a relevant government department.

  • Political Acumen: A strong awareness of the policy process and the ability to navigate complex political environments with composure and resilience.

  • Analytical Thinking: The ability to synthesize complex information into clear policy positions and meaningful environmental insights.

  • Relationship Building: A track record of building strong, credible, and supportive relationships with external stakeholders, such as political advisors and industry bodies.

  • Collaborative Spirit: A high level of interpersonal intelligence and the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams and global networks.

  • Compliance Focus: Completion of (or the ability to complete) the Medicines Australia Code of Conduct training.

This role is only open to candidates that have full eligibility to live and work in Australia. May require domestic travel.
