Job Summary: THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a HEALTH TECHNICIAN, Position Description Number D1724000 and is part of the KS 190 Air Refueling Wing, National Guard.

Major Duties:

  • As a HEALTH TECHNICIAN, GS-0640-08, you will develop plan, procedure, goal and objectives in support of the Aerospace Medicine and Force Health Management Programs using an extensive knowledge of Department of Defense (DOD), Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA), United States Air Force (USAF) and Air National Guard (ANG) directives, policies and standards. Programs include physical examinations and standards, flight medicine and related aero medical and force health management concerns. Interpret directives and applies standards to determine worldwide deployability of personnel. Advise and makes recommendations to senior officials on force health issues related to physical exams, standards and flight medicine activities to ensure compliance. Determine requirements, requests funding and administers accounts for procurement of supplies, equipment, and medical assessment in support of the physical exam process, flight medicine activities and related programs. Other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule that consists of a 5-day workweek, then a 4-day workweek (eight 9-hour days and one 8-hour day and an SDO, Scheduled Day Off) to complete the 80-hour pay period. Qualifications: Military Grades: E-3 through E-7 Compatible Military Assignments: 4N071 *Must be willing and able to cross train into the compatible AFSC GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience that allows you to show progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates you have the ability to become functional expert for issues pertaining to Aerospace Medicine and Force Health Management. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have the specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level with knowledge of the mission, organization, requirements and procedures of military medicine to provide guidance and assistance on multiple policies and quality assurance relating to health care programs. Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled.
