POSITION SPECIFICS
The Pennsylvania State University, Center for Counseling and Psychological Services,
(CAPS), University Park has an opening for a Health Services Assistant, beginning immediately.
The Health Services Assistant provides support and administrative services in a health care setting/environment. This role interacts with customers, patients, medical staff, and external vendors to ensure efficient operations of the office/clinic/assigned area.
The health care assistant is responsible for a variety of administrative tasks, including maintaining records and data, answering and screening calls, greeting visitors, filing, typing, and maintaining office equipment.
Answer phones and screen calls; ensure healthcare staff are made aware of any cancellations or appointment changes
Screen and assist guests and visitors, assist with a variety of tasks such as scheduling and adjusting appointments, collecting payments, notifying healthcare staff of patient arrival, and collecting and documenting feedback
Enter information into the computer system for tracking and record-keeping purposes; monitor incoming faxes and distribute to client files
Work within the center's Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and manage sensitive information
Monitor clinic/office schedule
Submit clinical documents and records to external vendors
Provide healthcare staff with messages and information as needed
Attend clinic/office meetings
Maintain office equipment and ensure the completion of filing, scanning, shredding, faxing, and copying as requested
Assist with routine travel arrangements
Prepare fiscal reports as needed and process expenditures for payment
May assist with arranging special events
Assist office staff with various processes and procedures; recommend changes as needed
Assist with outreach materials and needs, including development, design, and production of publications
Support professional development and administrative tasks
MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or High School (HS) No prior relevant work experience required; previous relevant work experience accepted in lieu of education. Required Certifications: None
BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES
This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.Penn State does not sponsor or take over sponsorship of a staff employment Visa. SALARY & BENEFITS
The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $34,800.00 - $50,500.00.
