Salary Range: $169279 - $197200 Per Year

Job Summary: This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent will be responsible for serving as the health services requirements and capabilities development subject matter expert and advise Joint Staff Surgeon staff on matter pertaining to joint medical requirement processes, acquisitions, research and development efforts.

Major Duties:

  • As a HEALTH READINESS CAPABILITY PORTFOLIO MANAGER at the GS-0301-15 some of your typical work assignments may include: Provides expert analysis, strategic oversight and recommendations to the Chief of Staff, Joint Staff Surgeon, Senior Military Health System officials. Makes determinations on projects or program segments to be initiated, dropped, or curtailed; changes in organizational structure. Prepares courses of action, development of operational medicine capabilities and associated documents. Coordinate with Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Veteran Affairs and other federal agencies. Prepares reviews, and supports the update of various Joint Publications and Doctrine. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates and evaluates work performance.

Qualifications: You may qualify at the GS-15, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the 14 grade level in the Federal service: Provides expert analysis, strategic oversight and recommendations for Health Readiness/Health Service Support with an O5 level and above forum; Oversees the gathering and identification of medical requirements and technology advising senior-level management within a military health structure; Briefs staff and senior military health system officials, Command and Joint staff; Developing Joint medical capability requirements for force health protection across chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and emerging threat environments; Supervises, counsels and works with team members to support career plans, identify training and professional developmental needs of subordinates.
