Carnegie Mellon University’s Health Promotion team is searching for a Health Promotion Assistant Program Director. This role is full-time. This role will support the development and management of campus-wide health promotion strategies, policies, programs and services with a focus on peer education. Under the leadership of the Health Promotion Program Director, the individual in this role will play a key role in the planning, implementation and evaluation of strategic health and well-being initiatives. In addition, they will collaborate with university partners to improve health equity and address priority college health and well-being issues for Carnegie Mellon University students.
Core responsibilities include:
Hire, train, manage, supervise, and evaluate student workers, including Peer Health Advocates
Oversee, refine and teach a credited academic course on the foundations of peer education
Coordinate training in peer health advocate specializations with campus partners, including but not limited to: mental health and substance use; sexual health and relationships; nutrition, body image and body inclusivity; disability resources, and violence prevention
Manage 1:1 peer support services via drop-in hours or other potential communication venues.
Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of theory-based and evidence-informed population and individual-level health promotion strategies, policies, programs, and services
Support strategic planning process and implementation for health promotion
Collaborate with key partners on- and off-campus to develop a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach to health and well-being for students
Support clinical health education services as needed and perform other duties as assigned
Participate in divisional and cross campus events, activities and committees
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in public health, higher education, health education, or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning required
3 years of supervisory experience, including training and hiring
A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a collegiate health setting and/or with a college-aged population
3 Years experience with supervision of student workers, including training and hiring
3 years experience with peer education, at least one year should include management, oversight, or supervision of a peer education program
Master’s degree in Public Health, Higher Education, Health Education, or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning
Requirements:
Successful completion of a pre-employment background check
Child Protection Clearances (Act 153)
Additional Information:
This is a full-time (37.5 of hours), exempt position based in Pittsburgh, PA.
This position will require regular evening and weekend hours as needed in order to facilitate events occurring in person in the higher education environment
