Job Overview

The Health Educator ll plans, implements, and evaluates evidence-based health education programs and other associated activities in an individual and/or group setting. The Educator evaluates, designs, presents, and disseminates culturally appropriate health education information and materials based on patient needs. In addition, the Educator works with the health education team to conduct training for AltaMed (non-clinical) staff on health promotion and prevention initiatives. The Health Educator may also serve as a resource to support patients with their care and support in the supervision and/or mentoring of HealthCorps members and interns as needed. In addition, The Educator leads and/or facilitates collaborative meetings with healthcare professionals and community leaders. Assignments will vary depending on the department and or clinic site.

Minimum Requirements                                                                                                                                                                                    

  • A bachelor’s degree in Health Science or a related field is required; an emphasis in Community Health Education is required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a CHW in a community health-based setting

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) or another secondary language is required due to the population being served.

  • A minimum requirement of a valid BLS certification or higher, following the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross guidelines.

Compensation

$27.43 - $34.29 hourly
