The Position

As a Health Economist Partner, in this role, you are expected to be highly motivated and enthusiastic, possessing a strong technical understanding and skillset of health economic research and application, with exceptional attention to detail. You have a passion for creating high-quality deliverables which critically evaluate and demonstrate the value of our medicines to national payers and related stakeholders. You will actively engage in all stages of health economic evidence development, including evidence and economic model review and critique; economic model adaptation for UK purposes; and effective communication of findings internally and externally. You will proactively develop your project management, leadership, and strategic thinking capabilities to identify creative opportunities and solutions to challenges presented. You will demonstrate thought leadership by publishing your work, and feeding in to external consultations of relevance.

As Health Economist Partner, you are responsible for:

Pricing & Reimbursement Strategy & HTA:

  • Designs and develops optimal UK pricing and reimbursement strategies for assigned products.

  • Leads all aspects of the Health Technology Appraisal (HTA) submission and process in the UK.

  • Adapts global health economic models for the UK market using technical expertise.

Market Access & Collaboration:

  • Contributes to the overall access strategy to ensure optimal patient access following positive reimbursement decisions.

  • Collaborates with global access and pricing teams to establish effective pricing policies aligned with cost-effectiveness assessments.

  • Develops strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve balanced, progressive, and commercially viable outcomes.

  • Takes a prominent role in cross-functional teams, ensuring access considerations are integral to brand strategy and tactics.

  • Ensures access input during early-stage product development to ensure optimal future patient access in the UK.

Knowledge Building:

  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of Health Technology Appraisal processes and criteria.

  • Monitors competitor submissions and outcomes.

  • Provides timely and accurate horizon scanning information on pipeline products.

  • Working collaboratively and sharing expertise across the organisation to remove silos and duplication, ensure efficient use of similar skill-sets, and to ultimately support common pursuit of the North Star

  • Acting as a guardian for high standards of compliance, ethics and safety; putting patients at the centre of all actions by consistent business behaviour that complies with applicable laws, industry codes and Roche’s Code of Conduct.

  • Owning their development to ensure they are continually growing skills and capabilities within their department in line with their passion and the needs of the Organisation (present and future)

  • Increasingly demonstrating the VACC (Visionary, Architect, Catalyst, Coach) roles, as they develop their personal skills and capabilities, to positively support colleagues


Requirements:

  • An MSc in Health Economics or equivalent discipline

  • Good working knowledge and practical experience of all methods of economic evaluation, the requirements, and processes of HTA bodies including NICE and SMC

  • In depth technical knowledge of HE modelling and value communication & implementation using a variety of channels

  • Detailed understanding of the role of HEOR within the NHS and pharmaceutical industry

  • Ability to craft sound national reimbursement strategies, bringing in the right cross-functional partners for input at the right time

  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with cross-functional teams, and to work at a strategic level within cross-functional teams

  • Ability to use AI in everyday work to build efficiencies

  • High quality demonstrable technical writing and communication skills
