The Health and Safety Manager provides management and consultancy support to the Business Managers and Site Safety Personnel. This role promotes continuous improvement and compliance with the requirements of ConnectSydney. This opportunity will suit a highly motivated and outcome driven individual who has a passion for delivering positive client outcomes, and a knack for effective stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the health and safety functions for ConnectSydney and the SRAP Contract.
  • Advise the ConnectSydney’s management team on health, safety and wellbeing concepts and collaborate with TfNSW on implementing safe, caring and reliable HSEQ practices.
  • Implement an effective safety auditing program to provide assurance of regulatory compliance and maintain currency of all associated documentation.
  • Assess subcontractor HSE submissions, lead onboarding meetings and SWMS reviews, conduct initial site surveillance.
  • Oversee and participate in inductions, training, toolbox meetings, investigations, monitor and review contractor safety procedures.
  • Assist management to ensure it has adequate risk management processes in place to identify and control its relevant hazards.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits of management systems and ensure that compliance obligations and hazards are undertaken according to the level of underlying risk.
  • Oversee incident investigation to meet internal and regulatory timeframes.
  • Ensure compliance/recertification audits are scheduled and conducted in a timely manner.
  • Ensure WHS & E records are maintained.
  • Produce safety related business cases/cost proposals for the upcoming forward works program.
  • Manage the WHSE budget and propose new annual budgets with justification for the upcoming year.
  • Ensure all subcontractor engagement processes are followed, and subcontractor surveillance is being undertaken onsite.

About You

As the successful candidate, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification and relevant industry experience working as a Health and Safety Manager (Maintenance or Construction background desirable).
  • Auditor qualifications in OHS, Environment & Quality discipline.
  • OFSC Experience and Knowledge is desirable.
  • Experience with ISO45001 principles is desirable. 
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is desirable.
