Collinsville Open Cut is located approximately 160km from Airlie Beach in Queensland, a town known as the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef. Producing both metallurgical and thermal coal for the export market, the surface mine has a long life and is transitioning from a dragline strip to a truck and shovel terrace operation.
We are looking for an experience Health and Safety Coordinator with specialist fields relating to Health, Wellbeing, Hygiene and Injury Management. Reporting to the Senior Health, Safety and Training Coordinator, you will provide support, coaching and mentoring to employees and line management on the site’s Safety and Health Management System.
In this role you will:
Manage hygiene monitoring and reporting requirements.
Act as the sites Return to Work Coordinator.
Coordinate medical management and assess fitness for work, including drug and alcohol screening, medication. declarations, and related health assessments.
Promote and coordinate site wellbeing initiatives, including psychosocial and Fit for Life programs.
Provide support for incident investigations, change managements and risk assessments.
Provide coaching & mentoring to various departments in areas including Health, Wellbeing, Hygiene and Injury Management.
You will maintain a high visibility presence in the workplace, particularly where high-risk work is performed.
Facilitate continual improvement in safety management at the Collinsville Open Cut.
About you:
Proven experience in Health and Safety roles in an open-cut mining environment.
Tertiary or certificate qualifications in OH&S is desirable (or related discipline).
Strong communication skills – able to develop and maintain relationships.
Team-focused - bring a friendly and approachable manner, helping to foster a supportive and collaborative team culture (We, Not Me).
ICAM Lead Investigator accreditation – desirable.
Skilled in incident investigations and risk assessment facilitation.
Highly organised and solutions-focused.
