We are actively seeking a Health and Safety Advisor to join our Saskatchewan Thermal team, based out of the North Battleford, Turtleford, Meota, or St. Walburg areas. The Health & Safety Advisor will develop, direct, implement, and monitor both occupational health and operational safety strategies and programs.

The successful candidate will provide direction for total loss control programs and will educate other work groups on health and safety requirements. They will be responsible for developing and maintaining hazardous materials programs, conducting inspections and investigations, and providing recommendations for safety improvements across our Saskatchewan Thermal Assets.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain Health & Safety emergency response systems

  • Facilitate onboarding for all new field staff and field contractors

  • Review and provide feedback with MOC approvals

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the vendors and suppliers’ safety programs and assist to improve quality of the work site activities

  • Inspect, observe, and audit onsite supervision and vendors for Health and Safety regulatory compliance

  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend Health and Safety training requirements and courses for field staff and support staff

  • Participate in worksite inspections and event investigations

  • Compile and submit weekly, monthly stats and department highlights

  • Provide strategies to maintain regulatory compliance by keeping up to date with safety legislation

  • Act as a liaison between government regulators and management

  • Provide onsite assurance and support for Operations activities

  • Assist Operations employees/consultants in identifying, documenting, and ensuring that risk assessment and control processes are in place for critical tasks in all facility and field activities

  • Provide support to project owners / site supervisors to investigate incidents & near misses

Qualifications:

  • Certificate, diploma, or degree in Occupational Health and Safety.

  • 10+ years of fulltime health and safety experience, preferably in upstream oil and gas drilling, well servicing, and/or construction

  • NCSO, CRSP, CSP or other industry-related designation

  • All standard oilfield certifications
