Who You Will Work With:  

Reporting to the Group Head, Technology & Operations, the vacant Head, Payments, T&O, will lead the technology strategy, execution and operations of Interac’s Debit and related payments products. This role will be accountable for ensuring all platforms required for the delivery of Interac’s Debit product are secure, resilient, scalable, and continuously evolving to meet the needs of financial institutions, merchants, partners, and consumers. 

This role will be accountable for delivering highly available, high-throughput payment services, modernizing core debit platforms, and enabling future payments capabilities while maintaining the highest standards of reliability, security, and regulatory compliance.
 

What You Will Do:  

  • Build an exceptional partnership with your peer business Payments Leader to align on product strategy and develop and deliver the technology innovations and roadmap to deliver on that strategy

  • Define and execute the end-to-end technology and operations strategy for Payments, aligned with both Interac’s enterprise payments strategy and long-term technology roadmap.

  • Lead the reliability, performance, and resilience of Interac Debit platforms, ensuring 24/7 operational excellence and adherence to strict service level objectives.

  • Drive the modernization of debit payments platforms, including infrastructure, software engineering practices, and operational tooling

  • Ensure technology and operational readiness to support evolving payments use cases, volumes, and regulatory requirements.

  • Partner closely and collaboratively with all business and technology stakeholders (i.e., CISO, Risk, Legal, Architecture, Platforms, Infrastructure, etc.) to drive joint outcomes

  • Lead financial and resource planning, currency and capacity management, and cost optimization for the Debit Payments technology portfolio

  • Drive automation across build, test, deployment, monitoring, and incident management domains to improve efficiency and reduce operational risk.

  • Establish and mature operating models, including ITSM practices, incident, problem, and change management.

  • Ensure strong security, risk management, and compliance controls across debit platforms, in alignment with financial services and payments industry standards.

  • Lead, develop, and inspire high-performing technology and operations teams, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence.

What You Bring: 

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in Technology Delivery and Operations, with significant experience operating large-scale, 24x7, 99.99% available, mission-critical platforms.

  • Deep expertise in payments technology, transaction processing systems, or high volume, low latency platforms; experience with debit or card payments is strongly preferred.

  • Proven ability to define and communicate a clear technology vision that aligns technology execution with business and customer outcomes.

  • Strong background in platform reliability, operational resilience, and high availability system design.

  • Demonstrated experience modernizing legacy platforms and adopting modern engineering, DevOps, and automation practices.

  • Solid understanding of security, risk management, and regulatory expectations within the payments or financial services ecosystem.

  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with a track record of building and leading diverse, high-performing teams.

  • Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to drive alignment across product, technology, and business leaders.

  • A mindset focused on operational excellence, continuous improvement, and customer-centric outcomes.

  • Eligibility to work for Interac Corp. in Canada in a fulltime capacity.
