You will join the Global CISO organization, reporting directly to the Global Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). Our mission is to safeguard ING’s digital ecosystem and enable secure business growth. The team works on high-impact projects that strengthen resilience, align with global regulations (ECB, DORA, NIS2), and embed cyber risk into enterprise risk frameworks. We foster a culture of transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Roles and Responsibilities
As Head of Cyber Risk Strategy, you will lead the definition and execution of ING’s global cyber risk agenda. Your work will influence strategic decisions across the bank and ensure regulatory readiness.
- Defining and evolving ING’s enterprise-level cyber and information security risk strategy in line with risk appetite and regulatory expectations.
- Partnering with the Global CISO to drive strategic risk initiatives that balance resilience with business growth.
- Leading the development of cyber risk appetite statements, thresholds, and limits across global entities.
- Engaging with the Board Risk Committee and senior executives, delivering clear, data-driven insights on emerging risks.
- Coordinating with second-line functions (Operational Risk, Compliance, Internal Audit) to ensure a unified risk view and robust challenge.
- Overseeing quantitative risk modeling, KRIs/KPIs, and governance for high-risk exposures.
- Acting as the executive lead for regulatory and audit engagements, ensuring a regulator-ready posture.
- Building and inspiring a global team, fostering a culture of accountability and risk-based decision-making.

Essential qualities for success:
- Strategic leadership in cyber risk or information security within large, complex organizations.
- Proven experience engaging with executive management and regulators on risk topics.
- Deep knowledge of banking regulatory frameworks (DORA, ECB SREP, PRA, NIS2).
- Ability to translate complex technical issues into strategic insights for senior stakeholders.
- Strong influencing skills and executive presence.
- Professional certifications (CISSP, CRISC, CISM, FAIR) are a plus.
