The Position

As the Head of Procurement, you will join the Finance and Operations Leadership Team (FOLT) to steer strategic value and operational excellence across Roche Diagnostics UK & Ireland. You will lead a dedicated team in overseeing both direct and indirect procurement, ensuring our solutions deliver world-class healthcare to patients and customers. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape our social value framework and optimise complex supply chains within a visionary, high-impact environment.

The Opportunity

As the Head of Procurement, you will act as a critical pillar in steering holistic value generation and ensuring our procurement strategies align with our mission to deliver life-saving diagnostics.

  • Lead and Inspire: You will coordinate and develop the procurement team, fostering a collaborative, agile, and customer-centric environment that emphasises continuous growth and motivation.

  • Strategic Category Management: You will develop and execute robust strategies for direct IVD reagents/hardware and indirect spend, ensuring alignment with global standards and local UK/Ireland requirements.

  • Strategic Partnerships: Lead scouting, negotiation, and onboarding processes for strategic partners, ensuring solutions meet business requirements for successful participation in public tenders.

  • Performance & KPI Management: Establish and monitor rigorous KPIs to ensure supplier accountability, quality, and delivery precision.

  • Risk & Quality: Oversee performance reviews, due diligence, and risk assessments, translating data into actionable quality improvement plans, coordinating with all internal functions with a clear escalation path.

  • Drive Commercial Excellence: You will lead high-stakes contract negotiations together with cross functional teams and scout strategic partners to secure optimal value while maintaining the highest standards of ethical sourcing and compliance.

  • Optimise Systems and Processes: You will implement and execute agile "Source to Pay" processes using digital tools like SAP, while collaborating with Regional Shared Services to drive process efficiency.

  • Deliver Social Value: You will integrate Social Value frameworks into the procurement lifecycle, a critical component of our commitment to the NHS and the broader healthcare ecosystem.

  • Data-Driven Leadership: You will establish rigorous KPIs and analyse spend data to provide actionable insights for investment rationalisation and sustainability.

Who you are

You are a visionary leader who balances a value-driven mindset with the analytical rigor required to navigate complex healthcare landscapes.

  • You hold a University Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a Scientific field; a Master’s or Postgraduate degree in Management or Supply Chain is preferred.

  • You bring proven experience in a similar procurement leadership role within a multinational environment, with a proven track record in people management and team development.

  • You are a strategic negotiator with experience in the IVD, MedTech, or complex Healthcare sectors, and you are comfortable navigating NHS contracting and public sector procurement regulations.

  • You are highly proficient in digital procurement tools (such as SAP and Microsoft Office) and have a demonstrated ability to use data-driven performance management to improve bottom-line results.

This role is based onsite at our Burgess Hill office in the United Kingdom.
