About The Role
The Head of Package for the FBL Cluster (France, Belgium, Luxembourg) will develop and execute the multiline P&C product line strategy, in the SME business segment, in accordance with the Package Regional product strategy, underwriting framework and pricing guardrails. This role will have overall responsibility for FBL Product P&L.
Delivering sustainable profitable growth results, as well as strong broker & client relationship while continuing to innovate from both product and underwriting standpoint will define your success in this exciting role.
Key Accountabilities
The Head of Package for FBL, will be accountable for delivering:
Sustainable Profitable Growth:
Setting and implementing FBL Package Strategy within EMEA regional framework
Planning & achieving FBL Package budgeted financial performance and growth targets, prioritizing portfolio optimization and margin improvement measured by UW Profit, NPW, AYCR (incl. CAT) and Expense Ratio.
Ensuring UW discipline as cornerstone of achieving profitable growth & targeted LR through controls, portfolio monitoring, steering, regular actuarial assessment of claims trends and adjusting rates accordingly
Maintaining risk selection in adherence with product guidelines and for achieving rate, renewal retention and new business goals.
Portfolio steering towards preferred segments & identifying and developing action plans to address under-performing segments of the portfolio and/or under-performing producers / distribution channels
Conducting referrals within the delegated authority & ensure adherence to all underwriting guidelines and maintaining underwriting excellence.
Managing the Renewal portfolio in a proactive manner by consolidating and analysing various reports and maintaining budgeted renewal retention for Package
Steering Package CAT Exposure
Developing & managing product & UW rules for various distribution channels e.g AIG Platform, DUA Partnerships
Identifying white spaces & expansion potential
Recognizing and creating cross selling opportunities for other AIG General Insurance products.
Coordinate with claims department in relation to various loss trends, transactions with claims and implement the required necessary system and product controls to maintain the budgeted loss ratio.
Focusing on managing Package expenses, direct and indirect ones
Ensuring regulatory and legal compliance across the Package business
Identifying future industry trends, understand how they will impact our client’s business and developing new strategies around those trends.
Operational Excellence & Expense Management:
In collaboration with Operations and other Functions continue to harmonize, streamline & automate the Product processes /workflows, enabling data quality & integrity and great customer serving
Working on flexibility to transact Package business digitally through AIG Portals, APIs, DUAs/MGAs with adequate oversights & booking
Maintaining and enhancing the online platform products & UW path to ensure fit to market and AIG top and bottom-up goals
Outstanding Broker and Client Relationship
Define Package distribution strategy
Developing & nurturing a sound broker & other distribution partners relationship
Providing regular broker visits and training regarding Package offerings to increase AIG presence in the marketplace.
Identifying opportunities to establish trading relationships with new producers and to promote AIG’s Package capability and product suite to external stakeholders in collaboration with Client & Broker Engagement and other profit centers
Consistently providing excellent underwriting service and ensure quick responses to our brokers/partners.
Setting & Managing MGA/DUAs collaboration for Package Solutions
Negotiating effectively to successfully close new opportunities.
Conducting business ethically, in accordance with the code of conduct, compliance guidelines, underwriting guidelines
Skills & Experience Required:
+10 years in the insurance industry, with experience in multi-line P&C solutions 5+ years
Proven track of successfully managing P&L
Track record of turning around or scaling portfolios
Market insights on SME P&C segment in FBL
Commercial Acumen
Delivering digital products through internal and external platforms
Working with MGAs/DUAs
Ability to effectively interact, communicate and build trusting partnerships with all levels of applicable external and/or internal business partners within the scope of responsibility.
Capable of operating with understanding and influence across other lines of business
French (native language) – professional English
Proven ability to successfully negotiate on all levels and develop broker relationships.
A strong track record of service orientation and teamwork.
People management and leadership skills
The ability to work independently and cohesively in a team environment in conjunction with service staff, risk engineering and field marketing claims employees.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
