The Role + Purpose:
As the Head of Men’s Merchandising, reporting to the Chief Merchandising Officer, you will shape and execute the full product vision for Madewell Men’s apparel & accessories, guiding in-house product lines, third-party partnerships, and brand collaborations. This role serves as the critical bridge between men’s design and merchandising to drive innovation, brand relevance, and commercial success. You will lead and develop a high-performing team to deliver customer-centered, market-right product assortments that meet both creative and financial goals.
Lead and oversee the full men’s merchandising business, setting the seasonal and annual product vision and strategy for in-house designs, third-party partnerships, and brand collaborations.
Partner closely with the Head of Men’s Design to align product direction, creative vision, and go-to-market strategy, ensuring a cohesive and compelling men’s assortment.
Collaborate cross-functionally with design, marketing, and sourcing teams to build assortments that reflect brand identity, resonate with target customers, and deliver against financial targets.
Lead, mentor, and develop the men’s merchandising team, fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture that supports professional growth and drives results.
Analyze market trends, customer insights, and product performance data to identify opportunities, refine assortment strategies, and inform future product decisions.
Collaborate with sourcing teams to develop a strategic seasonal calendar that aligns with design and merchandising objectives, including effective platforming of fabrics and materials.
Work in partnership with marketing to shape and communicate key seasonal messages and campaign priorities that reflect the men’s brand voice and resonate with target customers.
Manage third-party partnerships and brand collaborations, ensuring alignment with Madewell’s brand goals, quality standards, and market positioning.
Qualifications:
Required:
15+ years of experience in apparel buying, merchandising, and/or product development, with significant exposure to men’s categories.
Deep understanding of the men’s apparel & accessories market, including trend cycles, customer behavior, and the competitive landscape.
Proven leadership experience, with a track record of building and developing high-performing merchandising teams.
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and align design, marketing, and production teams around a shared product vision.
Demonstrated ability to drive customer-centered, profitable product lines from concept through sell-through.
Experience with data analysis tools for product performance and assortment planning.
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Business, or a related field.
Experience managing third-party partnerships and brand collaborations within a fashion or lifestyle brand context.

Salary Range: $205,400.00 - $277,700.00At J.Crew Group (JCG) we aim to pay competitively for our company’s size and industry. The base salary offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region of work premises, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. The base salary is just one component of J.Crew Group’s competitive total rewards strategy that also includes the opportunity for bonus, competitive benefits and perks.
