Reporting directly to the Therapeutic Area Lead (TAL) Hematology, the Head Medical Advisors Hematology shares responsibility with the TAL, Hematology for the strategic leadership, while leading the coordination and performance management of the Medical Advisor team within the Hematology therapeutic area at the country level.
This role ensures excellence in scientific exchange, stakeholder engagement, medical insight generation and local evidence planning, while fostering a high-performing, compliant and collaborative team culture.
The Head Medical Advisors translates the Hematology medical strategy into clear objectives and operational priorities for Medical Advisors, ensuring consistent execution across office- and hybrid-based activities. The role provides strategic oversight of engagement with key external stakeholders, including national study groups, research centers, patient organizations (in partnership with Corporate Affairs) and scientific societies, ensuring alignment with local, regional and global medical priorities. Building on selected strategic elements of academic cooperation and clinical coordination activities, this position is focused on team leadership, capability development, cross-functional alignment and execution excellence.
The Head Medical Advisors collaborates closely with the Field Medical Lead (where applicable), MSLs, Clinical Operations, RWE, Market Access, and Commercial teams to ensure a consistent, compliant and patient-focused medical approach across the Hematology portfolio.
Essential Job Functions:
TEAM LEADERSHIP & CAPABILITY DEVELOPMENT
Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team of Medical Advisors within Hematology
Translate the country-level TA medical plan into clear objectives, KPIs and priorities for the Medical Advisor team
Set performance expectations, conduct regular performance reviews and talent development discussions, and implement Individual Development Plans
Assess competencies to ensure up-to-date scientific knowledge, compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements, and high-quality stakeholder engagement
Provide structured coaching through joint stakeholder interactions and feedback sessions to continuously enhance scientific impact and communication excellence
Foster a collaborative, inclusive and compliance-driven culture aligned with BeOne values and global competencies
Ensure appropriate resource allocation, workload balance and operational efficiency within the team
STRATEGIC STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT & SCIENTIFIC EXCELLENCE
Partner with the TAL Hematology to align on identification, mapping and prioritization of key external stakeholders (e.g., KOLs, national hematology study groups, research networks, scientific societies and advocacy organizations)
Translate the aligned stakeholder strategy into Medical Advisor engagement plans, ensuring alignment with the TAL Hematology strategy and avoiding overlap with MSL activities
Guide the team in the planning, organization and scientific oversight of local medical meetings (e.g., symposia, advisory boards, consultancy meetings, investigator meetings)
Plan and execute Medical Education. Coordinate and ensure up-to-date slide decks are available.
Support high-level interactions with key national study groups and academic partners, positioning BeOne as a valued scientific collaborator
Ensure high-quality, evidence-based scientific communication and appropriate management of unsolicited medical information requests in collaboration with Global/EU Medical Information
Ensure consistent medical messaging across office- and field-based teams
MEDICAL INSIGHT GENERATION & STRATEGIC INPUT
Establish a structured approach for systematic capture, synthesis and analysis of medical insights generated by Medical Advisors in strong cooperation with the Field Medical Lead (where applicable)
Ensure insights are translated into actionable recommendations and communicated effectively to the TAL Hematology and cross-functional stakeholders
Identify emerging trends, unmet medical needs and data gaps within Hematology to inform local initiatives and evidence planning
Contribute strategic medical input into country-level medical plans, launch preparation, lifecycle management and educational initiatives
Drive field excellence initiatives and innovation opportunities to strengthen BeOne’s scientific positioning
EVIDENCE PLANNING, DATA GENERATION & CLINICAL COLLABORATION
Provide strategic oversight of local evidence planning activities in collaboration with TAL Hematology
Guide the team in identifying data gaps and supporting the development of local data generation initiatives aligned with medical strategy and stakeholder needs
Oversee Medical Advisor involvement in Investigator-Initiated Research (IIR), Non-Interventional Studies (NIS) and company-sponsored trials, ensuring compliance and quality standards
Support high-level coordination with Clinical Development and Clinical Operations regarding study feasibility, site identification and collaboration with research centers
Ensure medical input into health economic and outcomes-related initiatives in partnership with Market Access and HEOR, where appropriate
Promote high scientific standards in study-related communication and dissemination activities
CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION & COMPLIANCE
Act as a strategic medical partner to Market Access, Marketing and Commercial teams, ensuring clear scientific alignment while maintaining compliance boundaries
Ensure Medical Advisors provide accurate and compliant review of scientific materials where required, in accordance with internal SOPs and local regulations
Support internal medical education initiatives and ensure consistent therapeutic area knowledge across cross-functional teams
Collaborate closely with the Field Medical Lead (where applicable) to ensure alignment between office- and field-based medical activities
Drive consistency in CRM utilization, documentation standards and reporting quality
Ensure all team activities are conducted in full compliance with local regulations, internal policies and ethical standards
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Direct leadership and performance management of the Medical Advisor team within Hematology
Qualifications & Capabilities
Minimum of 4+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, with strong Medical Affairs background in Hematology
Minimum 2–3 years of people management experience with demonstrated success in coaching and developing medical teams
In-depth understanding of the Hematology disease landscape, treatment pathways, clinical research environment and national study group structures
Strong strategic thinking capabilities with the ability to translate medical strategy into operational execution
Proven experience in evidence planning, data generation support and cross-functional medical collaboration
Comprehensive knowledge of industry ethical and compliance standards and the local healthcare system
Advanced analytical skills to synthesize scientific data and stakeholder insights into strategic recommendations
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to influence across functions and levels
Demonstrated ability to manage complexity, ambiguity and competing priorities
High level of emotional intelligence and appreciation of diversity and multiculturalism
Computer Skills:
Proficient with software programs, such as Microsoft Office Suite; skilled in multiple computer-based tools (PC &Ipad Literacy); experienced with electronic CRM systems
Other Qualifications:
Fluency (written and verbal) in English and German; additional European languages of advantage
Travel:
Willingness to travel regularly (approximately 30–40% of time), including participation in national and international congresses and key stakeholder meetings
Salary Range Germany: 120,000.00 EUR - 150,000.00 EUR
