We are seeking an exceptional leader to serve as Head of Macquarie Medical School and Dean of Medicine which is a pivotal strategic role that sits at the intersection of education, research, clinical care and innovation. About the Role
Reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Medicine and Health) and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences, you will provide strategic and operational leadership of the Macquarie Medical School. Working in close collaboration with the Hospital's Director of Medical and Surgical Services, Deputy Deans, and Faculty leadership, your responsibilities will include:
Strategic leadership - Partnering with the Executive Dean and faculty Executive Group to define and drive the school's strategic direction, ensuring alignment with the Macquarie University Health and University-wide strategies, while actively contributing to Faculty planning and organisational culture development.
Academic and clinical integration - Leading the ongoing integration of academic and clinical functions, fostering transformative learning, impactful research and innovative clinical practice across the school.
Partnerships and reputation building - Developing and managing strategic local, national and international partnerships across research, education and clinical practice, enhancing student recruitment, and strengthening relationships with healthcare providers, professional bodies and the wider community.
Financial and operational oversight - Overseeing the effective administration of the school's budgets and resources, ensuring optimal resource allocation, fiscal accountability and compliance with relevant legislative obligations.
People leadership and organisational culture - Providing transformational leadership that attracts, retains and develops high-performing staff across education, research and clinical practice, fostering a collegial, high-performance culture where achievement is recognised, staff reach their potential and are actively mentored and engaged.
About Us
The Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences is home to the University's cross-disciplinary activities in the broad area of health and human sciences. The faculty comprises the Macquarie Medical School, School of Psychological Sciences, School of Health Sciences and Nursing, Department of Chiropractic, Department of Linguistics, and the Australian Institute of Health Innovation. With over 500 staff and an operating budget of more than $185 million, the Faculty educates approximately 20 per cent of the University's coursework students and drives research strengths spanning neurosciences, clinical sciences, health systems, public health and beyond.
