Head of Legal & Compliance, Hong Kong

Key responsibilities:

  • To provide timely, pro-active and practical legal advice to all KONE operations in Hong Kong.

  • To review, draft and negotiate a broad range of business documents that arise from the day-to-day operations of the business in Hong Kong.

  • To localize, introduce, implement and coordinate existing global policies and guidelines with respect to legal and related matters (trademarks, code of conduct, major projects, competition etc.) and to contribute to the further development of the same.

  • To manage claims, disputes, mediations, litigation and arbitrations.

  • To ensure overall understanding to the most updated regulations, policies and laws concerning Hong Kong business environment.

  • To train internal staff on company practices, relevant regulatory/compliance requirements and general legal and risk management issues.

Requirement:

  • Minimum a bachelor’s degree in law.

  • 5 years+ experience in the legal related area in MNCs or law firms.

  • A generalist in legal practice.

  • Good hands-on knowledge of the full spectrum of legal practice with solid experience in contractual matters being a must.  Experience in dispute resolutions and project/construction contracts is an advantage.

  • A good understanding of the multinational organization and the ability to work harmoniously and effectively across nation and cultural boundaries.

  • Having the ability to work in a multidimensional matrix organization and willingness to be a team player and the ability to earn the trust of his/her colleagues.

  • Able to deliver presentations with enthusiasm and energy in English and Chinese and effectively organize ideas for logical presentation and acceptance.

  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making and risk assessment capabilities, with good judgment and commitment to delivering results.

  • Must be a good communicator with good interpersonal skills.

  • Able to work independently and is not afraid of taking initiative.
