Understand the competitive environment in laser scanning, the technical USPs of competing systems, and anticipate future developments.
Understand the ZEISS product strategy for local and global market, defined by the current product line-up and sales structure in close coordination with the Head of Business Unit Optical Systems and the local sales organization
Leadership
Establish and form the R&D core team.
Unite the team around the shared goal of becoming the nucleus for future product developments in the field of laser scanning.
Assess and continuously track the technical capabilities of key positions. Anticipate leadership skills within the team
In parallel: Identify and define the requirements for the personnel and technical resources needed to build a larger, fully-fledged product development team for laser scanning
Prototyping
Coordinate with the local organization in Suzhou regarding the necessary infrastructure, laboratory setup and prototype sourcing strategy.
Translate the potential product requirements into actionable work packages for the team.
Lead the team in constructing a demonstrator that both tests and highlights their expertise, preferred working methods, integrated technology platforms, and the overarching vision for the final product.
Collaborating with the ZEISS IQS Software organization to define the concept for the end-user interface of the final product
Requirements
Education
Master’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
Experience
Proven experience in interdisciplinary R&D leadership role, preferably in the field of laser scanning or photogrammetry
Strong understanding of systems engineering
Expertise in prototyping and prototype sourcing processes (mechanics, electronics, optics)
Other Skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across global and local teams
Fluent in English and Mandarin (preferred)
