Reporting to: Head of IT – Asia Pacific, China, Europe & Middle East

MAIN PURPOSE:

  • Responsible for the IT Strategy, portfolio, application support and infrastructure services of the Abbott Nutrition Vietnam market and specific value chain domains across all Asia Pacific markets. Ensures the portfolio enhances organizational strategy through successful, consistent and predictable delivery of programs, projects and applications. Achieves this where needed supported by a small staff which partners with the business, has excellent understanding of the business processes, is aware of the evolution of technologies, and takes into account regulations relevant to the business area.
  • Proactively identifies areas of opportunity to apply IT for new business opportunities, process improvement, and cost efficiencies.  Provides insight to the business unit on how to best develop and leverage IT capabilities for the organization(s).  Primary point of contact for overall IT needs for the Vietnam market and some specific value chain domains across all Asia Pacific markets.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY :

  • To comply with the company’s policies and procedures to meet statutory, quality and business requirements within the overall strategy, objectives and service standards of the Abbott Nutrition International Vietnam and Asia businesses.
  • Responsible for assessing the compliance of system solutions with regulatory requirements, inclusive of validation.
  • Operates with goals set by the Regional Head of IT for Abbott Nutrition business
  • Erroneous decisions would normally result in failure to complete projects critical to major objectives of the business unit.  Has direct impact on capital budget, expenses and major project completion.
  • Accountable for the accuracy of the fit of the proposed business process improvements and the technical solution to the business needs and the information upon which the business justification and prioritization decisions are made. Also accountable for communicating the business need and drivers to development groups to assure the implementation phase can fulfill the business need.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic thinking:

  • Understands and contributes to the business unit strategy and translates business strategy in an aligned IT strategy and portfolio of programs, projects and applications.

  • Constant awareness of evolving regulatory requirements to the specific business unit, and influence the IT stakeholders and vendors in addressing these evolutions in the most efficient way.

Business Acumen:

  • Understand the business of the unit, and ensure that IT solutions meet the needs of the business.
  • Understands the specific challenges and opportunities linked to the regulatory, legal, and economic situation of the business unit.

Consulting:

  • Consulting toward business process owners on tools and solutions based on own area of IT expertise. Recommend solutions assuring fit with BU direction, strategy and priorities. Closely collaborate with other disciplines like corporate IT, Engineering, and business process owners in the BU.
  • Perform or aid in the analysis, requirements specification, design, and implementation of systems and programs for the area of expertise.

Relationship management:

  • Influence and partner with business leaders (Manager, Director) to manage and align the process specific IT portfolio. Close collaborate with other parts of  BU IT, Global Information Services, adjacent business departments and external partners to ensure adequate and timely delivery of agreed services, in line with agreed service levels.
  • Partner and collaborate with key IT staff of other Abbott divisions in order to support cross divisional business initiatives, and explore IT synergies and efficiencies.

Portfolio & budget management:

  • Agrees with unit management and global BRM, on the portfolio of programs, projects, and applications, and ensures that unit long range plan and budgets are aligned.
  • In the BRM team align the unit portfolios, identify conflicts and synergies and act upon this.
  • Negotiates for and secures resources to meet the long range needs of the unit.
  • Oversee and control the unit IT budget, project capital/RCE expenditures and ROI.
  • Oversee the Business IT Expert team budget, project capital/RCE Expenditures
  • Continually look for opportunities for cost reductions and cost avoidance.

Compliance:

  • Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for assessing the compliance of system solutions with regulatory requirements, inclusive of validation.

Understand business strategies (functional & geographic), current and future required business capabilities. Identifying gaps and opportunities for value creation.

Development of roadmaps containing sequencing of IT solution to facilitate the achievement of the business strategies.

Identify standardization of processes and support solutions.

Work with the business function/geography and IT Corporate functions to develop the different project business cases and value realization processes.

Facilitate the understanding and support the buy in of the Functional Roadmap to the key stakeholders in the function/geography.

Assess, align, filter and propose the country requirements to the regional forums in agreement with the functional/geographic GMs.

Ensure proper and regular communication of the status of solutions and services for the specific function/geography.

Identify and control IT functional/geography costs

Assess with the support of Security Officer organization and 3rd parties the current and future risk profile of the function/geography

Understand business strategies (functional & geographic), current and future required business capabilities. Identifying gaps and opportunities for value creation.

Leading people

  • Responsible for all aspects of people leadership for the Business IT Expert team; setting expectations, coaching, counseling, developing, evaluating, feedback, hiring, discipline and separation. Determine necessary skills set.
  • Confronts and deals with people issues in a constructive and timely manner. Responsible for overall morale of team and promotes cohesive attitude.
  • Establishes staffing/resources plans determining appropriate mix of sourcing opportunities. Responsible for overall organizational effectiveness.

EDUCATION:

Bachelors degree in computer science, business administration or another discipline relevant for the healthcare industry or equivalent experience.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • 7–10 years of IT experience in a large or mid‑sized multinational organization, with FMCG experience highly preferred. Broad IT expertise in various disciplines like system development, and including infrastructure. Additional experience in setting IT strategy and business IT alignment.
  • Good organizational skills, including program/project management governance.
  • Strong interdisciplinary, intercultural, influence, and networking skills.
  • Experience with vendor management
  • Business unit relevant business process knowledge, as related to IT
  • Strong influence and negotiating skills.

Preferred

  • Formal training and experience in recognised business analysis techniques
  • Knowledge of Abbott operations
  • Qualification in project management

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Good knowledge of (a) Digital Ecosystem solutions such across CRM, SFE, CLM, Digital Marketing, Loyalty, eCommerce and Analytics; and (b) Route to Market solution such as DMS, SFE, TPM and ERP. 
  • Must be able to use that background as the basis for making assessments of the future requirements of ANI Asia Pacific and the advantageous impacts that decisions can deliver to our customers.
  • Understanding of the commercial value chain.
  • Understanding of sales and services solutions for customers, consumers and patients including related platform technologies and architectures.
  • Ability to learn technologies quickly.
  • History of achievement in project management, achieving timeline and resource targets.
  • Strong customer facing skills, with the ability to translate complicated technical needs for various non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent ability to influence internal and external stakeholders and build consensus, understanding the different priorities in various teams / departments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are critical.
  • Strong trouble shooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to multitask in the role with little supervision and many demands from many constituents.
  • Positive attitude and a desire to drive modern technologies and solutions.
