The Walter division belongs to the Machining business area (BA) at Sandvik. Walter’s Digital Transformation & IT team collaboration with Machining BA IT team develops towards leveraging fully the combined strengths of all Machining BA’s divisions, and its increasing number of shared digital & IT platforms driving agility, efficiency and incremental business value creation.

We’re looking for an experienced and agile leader to join our Digital Transformation & IT team (DT&IT) and to drive the execution of our divisional strategy in the primary areas of IT Finance and HR. Other activities related to Sustainability and/or Compliance could be considered as well in this portfolio of responsibilities.

Your mission

In alignment with Machining business area IT team, you elaborate and execute on Walter’s IT strategy supporting our Finance and HR business partners and enabling their short- and long-term goals. You’re responsible for maintaining and delivering on our Finance & HR IT roadmap towards maximizing value creation. With your team, you consult with and bring ideas to our Finance and HR business teams acting as their trusted IT Business Partner in all aspects of digital technologies including the effective usage of ERP and other integrated digital products.

Included in your mission is to:

  • Ensure the delivery as per plan of various projects from ideation to go-live.
  • Coordinate internal and external project resources.
  • Run existing platforms with support from other Walter DT&IT team and group level teams.
  • Drive, jointly with business stakeholders, processes harmonization and automation.
  • Lead and develop a global team of internal SAP (S/4HANA) FI/CO and other Finance systems experts.
  • Coach your team, including leveraging best practices in configuration design and implementation, internally and from sister divisions.
  • Inspire your team, including promoting exploration of new features and technologies inclusive of Finance related AI use cases.
  • Manage external partnerships.
  • Provide guidance and support to the HR business team engaging with Sandvik Group stakeholders of HRIS.
  • Lead Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) related IT finance workstreams and contributing teams to enable integration of synergies inclusive of standard group reporting and compliance activities.
  • Contribute to the DT&IT team strategic thinking and strategy steering.

In this position you report to the CIO and are a member of the Walter Digital Transformation & IT management team. You lead a team of about ten combined direct reports and contractors across Germany, Czech Republic, Romania and France. Travelling to Walter Global headquarters in Tübingen, Germany, is wished monthly.

Your profile

As a good leader, you’re characterized by strong interpersonal and engagement skills – making you great at onboarding teams on a strategic roadmap, sharing a vision and communicating and collaborating closely with the business. You have a high sense of responsibility, service and proactivity, while at the same time being creative, agile and curious. With strong intercultural competence, you easily interact with a high number of stakeholders in our complex environment. Add the following qualifications and you have what it takes to really thrive in this role:

  • You have a university degree in computer science, business administration, engineering or a related discipline with an information technology focus or comparable practical business experience.
  • More than 10 years of SAP Finance experience (ideally S/4HANA), including at least 5 years in a managerial role.
  • Experience of integrating best-of-breed 3rd party finance solutions (e.g. T&E, Vendor management) with the SAP ERP core.
  • You bring a deep understanding of structured and process-oriented application design.
  • Proven ability to implement Application Lifecycle and Business Process Management using SAP Solution Manager.
  • You contribute your expertise by documenting and analyzing business requirements for SAP-based implementations.
  • Strong competence in documenting and analyzing business requirements for SAP-based implementations.
  • You have experience in managing a DevOps environment
  • With very good spoken and written English skills you can inspire others with your ideas and vision.
