Scope & Organizational Impact
This role oversees a complex organization of 50-60 people across account management and project management functions, representing one of the largest teams within SBO. The position operates across ALL disease areas within Medical and Market Access functions, with no limitations to specific therapeutic areas, ensuring comprehensive coverage of Sanofi's entire portfolio. The role covers ALL geographies globally, spanning North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and emerging markets, requiring sophisticated coordination across multiple time zones and regulatory environments.
This position will be building and orchestrating scalable partnerships that unlock enterprise-wide value across Sanofi’s global portfolio. Acting as a trusted advisor and key liaison, the position ensures alignment between our internal stakeholders and our content creation teams to accelerate delivery and maximize impact. By embedding robust project management capabilities into the engagement model, this role guarantees disciplined execution, clear accountability, and seamless coordination across initiatives. This position enables BO Sanofi to enhance overall productivity, leveraging shared knowledge and capabilities, co-creating solutions, and delivering measurable business outcomes across regions and therapeutic areas.
Organizational Scope & Complexity
Team Size: 50-60 people across Account Management and Project Management functions, representing a multi-disciplinary, globally distributed workforce
Geographic Scope: Global operations covering all Sanofi regions including North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and emerging markets
Therapeutic Scope: All disease areas within Medical and Market Access, spanning the complete Sanofi portfolio without therapeutic area limitations
Functional Scope: Internal Cross-functional impact on Medical, HEVA, Commercial, and R&D organizations, requiring coordination across multiple business units and stakeholder groups
Financial value: Accountable for the engagement that accelerates execution of deliverables for measurable business impact. By improving the ease of doing business and driving stronger alignment across cross-functional teams, this role unlocks significant financial value through better integration of internal capabilities, enhanced collaboration frameworks, and optimized partner engagement—ensuring every interaction delivers remarkable results and supports sustainable growth.
Impact: Driving BO Medical wide capabilities that reduce fragmented engagement and enable consistent BO Medical delivery across all regions and therapeutic areas. This includes execute adaptable models that accommodate varying business priorities while ensuring high-quality execution in portfolio management, cross-functional collaboration, and partner engagement.
Main accountabilities
Sanofi Internal Stakeholder Management (25%)
- Lead and mentor a team of Account Managers across multiple therapeutic areas, ensuring excellence in client service and delivery while managing cost optimization initiatives across all disease areas
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure alignment on priorities and timely delivery of agreed objectives across therapeutic areas and Global Business Units (GBUs)
- Collaborate with internal teams (scientific, creative design studio, and market access) to ensure projects are delivered with scientific accuracy, on time, and within budget while driving cross-portfolio resource allocation and prioritization
- Uphold the highest standards of quality and scientific integrity across all client-facing deliverables
- Resolve escalated issues swiftly and maintain transparent, proactive communication across all levels
- Participate in therapeutic area performance reviews to ensure stakeholder priorities are addressed and shared accountability for agreed deliverables is maintained
Project Management Center of Excellence Leadership (30%)
Lead the Head of Project Management to develop and implement a center of excellence for project management across the organization, driving enterprise-wide standardization and economies of scale
- Establish standardized project management methodologies, best practices, and governance frameworks to be applied consistently across portfolios and regions, reducing duplication and operational waste
- Create a centralized project management support function that provides expertise, tools, and resources to stakeholders across the organization while optimizing costs through shared services model
- Develop scalable project management frameworks that can adapt to different project sizes, complexities, and therapeutic areas while maintaining efficiency gains
- Implement project governance structures that ensure consistency in delivery, resource allocation, and risk management across all geographies and disease areas
- Support all stakeholders with professional project management capabilities to enhance execution and delivery outcomes while building cost-effective, scalable models
- Drive the development and implementation of project management tools, templates, and training programs to elevate capabilities across the organization and reduce operational costs through standardization
Strategic Partnership & Business Planning (20%)
- Develop and implement business plans that align brand goals with capabilities, while continuously prioritizing activities to maximize impact and ensure timely delivery across all therapeutic areas and geographies
- Provide subject-matter expertise in medical communications, including publication planning and medical affairs
- Stay informed on industry trends, emerging best practices, and innovations in medical communications and project management to guide strategic direction
- Drive innovation in service delivery models to enhance value, efficiency, and cost optimization impact
Business Development and Growth (15%)
- Collaborate across divisions to generate leads and expand service offerings while managing cost optimization through efficient resource utilization
- Lead responses to client needs and develop tailored strategic presentations to support the various brand needs across all disease areas
- Monitor evolving client needs and market dynamics to inform service innovation and strategic positioning
- Implement standardized processes and tools to enhance account management efficiency and scalability while driving cost savings through process optimization
Team Development & Cross-Functional Collaboration (10%)
- Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to both Account Managers and Project Management teams (50-60 people), supporting their growth and effectiveness across global operations
- Foster a collaborative, client-centric culture that promotes accountability, innovation, and shared success across all geographies and therapeutic areas
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and integration of new staff across both functional areas for global operations
- Promote cross-functional engagement within the medical hub, working closely with content delivery teams across global hubs to ensure cohesive execution
Requirements:
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in scientific communications, medical affairs, or within a medical communications agency supporting pharmaceutical clients
- Advanced scientific or medical degree (e.g., PhD, PharmD, MD, MSc) required
- Demonstrated expertise in medical communications strategy and execution
- Proven ability to build and lead centers of excellence or shared service functions
- Experience managing large teams (40+ people preferred) with global scope and complexity
- Proven track record of delivering cost savings through operational excellence and process optimization
- Experience in enterprise-wide transformation and change management across multiple regions and business units
- Global leadership experience across multiple regions with demonstrated ability to manage cultural and regulatory complexity
- Strong organizational, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proven ability to manage complex client relationships and lead cross-functional teams
- Experience with project management methodologies and tools
