KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


The Head of Insurance Solutions is responsible for leading the development, packaging and commercialisation of the firm’s proprietary insurance investment & solutions capabilities for third-party insurance clients across APAC. This role bridges deep technical knowledge of insurance balance sheets, capital frameworks, asset-liability management, and regulatory constraints with commercial acumen to drive product relevant, differentiation, and profitable growth. This role will be responsible for defining the client target-market, the value proposition and roll out an impactful and target potential 3rd Party institutions to build a successful Insurance Solutions channel.

Strategic Leadership & Commercialisation

  • Develop and execute the firm’s third-party insurance client segment & solutions strategy, leveraging internal investment expertise to create differentiated offerings for insures across life, general, health and reinsurance sectors.

  • Lead the commercialisation of bespoke and scalable investment solutions aligned to insurer needs, including ALM, capital efficiency, income strategies, and sustainability-linked portfolios.

  • Work in partnership with product, Investments/MAPS, and local market sales/distribution channels and regional/local marketing to design and launch market-ready solutions that align with regulatory frameworks e.g. RBC, Solvency II equivalents, accounting requirements and capital objectives.

  • Identify and prioritise high-value market segments and partnership opportunities across intermediary and institutional channels

Client Engagement & Business Development

  • Act as a subject matter expert and thought leader engaging directly with C-suite, CIOs, CROs and actuarial stakeholders within the third-party insurance clients.

  • Lead / co-lead distribution teams with technical expertise in sales pitches, RFP responses, due diligence processes, and client onboarding.

  • Build and sustain strong partnerships with consultants, regulators, rating agencies and ecosystem partners, including partnering with Institutional Client Coverage & Sales

  • Represent the firm at industry forums and conference, building brand credibility in insurance investing.

Solutions Design & Delivery

  • Translate insurer needs and constraints into actionable investment solutions across public and private markets, including fixed income credit, alternatives, liability-driven strategies, and structured products.

  • Collaborate with portfolio managers, quantitative teams, and risk to ensure robust ALM, capital optimisation, and risk adjusted return frameworks.

  • Oversee the development of proprietary tools, models, and frameworks to support insurance solution design and portfolio construction.

  • Ensure all solutions meet internal governance requirements and external regulatory and fiduciary standards.

Market Intelligence & Thought Leadership

  • Monitor regulatory, accounting, capital and market developments that impact insurers’ investment behaviour.

  • Publish thought leadership on industry trends, innovation, and best practice in insurance portfolio design.

  • Inform product roadmap and investment capability build-out based on market insights.

Internal Collaboration & Influence

  • Act as the key interface between the investment team and distribution, driving alignment on strategy, prioritisation, and product initiatives.

  • Mentor investment and product professionals in insurance-specific knowledge.

  • Contribute to cross-functional initiatives related to insurance ALM, ESG integration, and structured solutions.

Leadership & Culture

  • Build and mentor high-performing teams across the function.

  • Positive client engagement, win rates and retention metrics

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven senior leadership experience, 15+ years in insurance investment solutions, actuarial consulting, balance sheet management, or insurance asset management.

  • Deep understanding of insurance capital frameworks e.g. RBC, Solvency II, IFRS 17, ALM and risk management

  • Proven track record in building insurance client businesses, designing and commercialising investment solutions for insurers, preferably across multiple asset classes.

  • Demonstrated success in client-facing or distribution partnership roles.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to translate complexity into commercially compelling narratives.

  • Advanced degree in finance, actuarial science, economics, or related fields, CFA or actuarial qualification strongly preferred.
