To provide advice and support in practice formulation and associated best practice improvement tactics; enabling the provision of specialist human resources expertise.

Job Description

Accountability:  Leadership & Strategy

  • Work as a full member of the leadership team to develop people strategy and turn into actions, which clearly contributes to the Absa Bank Seychelles and as part of Absa’s strategic goals – based on the balanced scorecard.
  • Drive and actively contribute to the implementation of the People Strategy initiatives and work streams.
  • Ensure the implementation approach is supported, delivered and appropriately ‘landed’ by business leaders
  • Work with Internal Communications, Business Change teams to ensure the effective communication of such events, actions and successful delivery in the Business area.
  • Work with both Business and People Function colleagues to assist businesses in hitting their targets through people.
  • Create a culture of high performance and consequence management
  • Oversee the process for capability reviews, talent sessions and succession planning.
  • Manage the allocated budget for the People Function

Accountability:  People strategy implementation/ transformational change

  • Work directly with key stakeholders to enhance performance achievement and capability.
  • Act (where appropriate) as the interface between People Specialist and People Business Partners and wider business to procure and deliver services and specialist expertise designed to assist the delivery of integrated people solutions.
  • Monitor delivery of People Specialist around the basic requirements of the business area for People Experience and Talent Acquisition & Learning.
  • Understand and provide feedback to People Specialist and People Leaders around compliance with Service level Agreements, monitor these on behalf of the business and bring to attention any areas of concern that could affect the performance of the business.

Accountability:  Manage team, influence, coach and facilitate

  • Manage team within People Specialist Practice.
  • Support and coach members of People Specialist Practice teams in effective implementation of the HR agenda.
  • Drive agreed priorities and HR initiatives to implementation, ensuring that the business effectively executes the initiatives to create real business value for time, effort and associated cost

Accountability:  Employee Relations

  • Take accountability for and work with Absa Regional Operations Head of ER and ER manager and team to deliver excellent ER environment within Absa Bank Seychelles
  • Take accountability for and work with Absa Bank Seychelles Head of ER to implement and provide feedback around the employee relations environment for the business, undertake interactions with SUBE and develop action plans associated with performance improvement and Employee Opinion Survey. 
  • Work with Key Stakeholders to develop a culture within Absa Bank Seychelles that underpins Employer of Choice brand. 
  • Maintain technical accreditation to ensure professional support of highly sensitive high-profile cases, which are at risk of PAT/litigation or significant negative PR. 
  • Ensure protection of the relationship with SUBE and facilitate joint trade union and management communication as appropriate to support change programmes

Accountability:  People Experience, Systems and Governance

  • Enhance existing systems and drive out systems implementations designed to deliver excellent People services to People Business Partners and wider business community. 
  • Ensure excellent Governance of People processes and operation of controls.
  • Work closely with People Experience Manager and People Governance Manager to ensure People related risks are well an closely managed.  
  • Ensure understanding of group policies and governance processes, driving compliance as appropriate within own business area
  • Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Absa Policies and Policy Standards.
  • Understand and manage risks and risk events (incidents) relevant to the role.
  • Ensure the business is compliant with People Risk controls and policies

Accountability:  Learning and Development

  • Take accountability for and work with Absa Regional Operations Head of Learning and Development and Absa Bank Seychelles Head of Learning and Development
  • Take accountability for and work with Absa Regional Operations Head of Learning to implementing and driving out the complete Learning and Development agenda – including business related and mandatory training – and focus on effective leadership development initiatives.  
  • Take accountability to support the Head of Learning and Development in ensuring that the business is fully supported in meeting its objectives in the training delivered both in content; means of delivery and follow ups.  Also, to ensure that there are effective relationships with key business stakeholders

Accountability:  Reward

  • Take accountability for and work with Absa Regional Operations Head of Reward and Absa Bank Seychelles Reward Manager to deliver reward in line with Absa Regional Operations Global and local standards and designed to support business performance.
  • Take accountability for and work with Absa Bank Seychelles Reward Manager to implement and provide effective pay and benefits framework to support business performance; including annual payround process; salary and benefits for non-management grades (BA1-BA4); salary and benefits approach for managerial staff; enhancement of Absa Bank Seychelles Employee Value Proposition; with focus on benefits including pension, medical scheme and life assurance.
  • Take accountability for and work with Absa Bank Seychelles Reward Manager to ensure good governance around reward matters – including operating monthly and ad hoc RPC meetings.

Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas: Human and Social Studies (Required)
