The opportunity
The Head of HSE Assurance is a key member of the Global HSE Team, responsible for providing assurance through the execution of audits as part of the Three Lines of Defense (3LoD) program in support of the Hitachi Energy HSE Management System. This role ensures that operations comply with Hitachi Energy HSE standards, policies, procedures, practices, and applicable industry guidelines. The position reports directly to the Global Head of HSE and is part of the HSE Leadership Team, collaborating closely with Discipline Heads across the Global Function.
How you’ll make an impact
- Design, implement, and oversee the HSE Management Audit Program, ensuring alignment with performance metrics and risk priorities.
- Conduct targeted assessments for emerging risks or special requests from the Board, Internal Audit, or Hitachi Limited.
- Maintain and strengthen the HSE Three Lines of Defense (3LoD) framework, ensuring robust third-line assurance.
- Drive continuous improvement in HSE Audit & Assurance through execution of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
- Ensure global consistency in the delivery of HSE Audit & Assurance programs.
- Analyze audit outcomes to identify and address emerging risks proactively.
- Develop and train HSE auditors to build and sustain critical capabilities.
- Represent HSE in internal and external forums to enhance visibility, engagement, and influence.
- Provide actionable feedback to leadership to maintain the effectiveness of the HSE Management System and related procedures.
- Monitor incident trends and track progress against HSE KPIs to prioritize audit focus areas.
- Utilize data analytics to identify improvement opportunities within the HSE Audit & Assurance Program.
- Share insights and best practices to foster continuous improvement across the organization.
Your background
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in occupational health & safety, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 15 - 20 years of experience in HSE leadership roles, with at least 10 years in audit and assurance at a global level.
- Certifications: ISO 45001 Lead Auditor or preferred equivalent
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of international HSE audit & assurance standards, risk management frameworks, and audit methodologies.
