Position Summary:

The Head of Global Trading will be guiding the operational building out of the Dalio Family Office’s execution capabilities. This role will be responsible for supporting the design and implementing systematic trading solutions, interfacing with brokers, banks, and partners, while managing all aspects of trade execution and treasury operations. The Head Global of Trading will possess a global markets perspective, strong technical skills in automation and systems development, and a proven ability to deliver execution efficiencies and process improvements. This role will be primarily based at the DFO’s U.S. offices (New York City or Westport, CT). The Head Trader may also have functional reporting line(s) in our regional offices.

Day-to-day responsibilities would include a combination of the following:

  • Execution Research: Lead project-based research initiatives to identify and implement improvements in trade execution. Focus on building systems and machines that drive systematic enhancements rather than traditional market timing.
  • Trade Execution: With a team that the Head Trader directs, execute trades on behalf of the DFO in a first-class way.
  • Capabilities Improvement: Develop and code automation processes and trading systems to streamline operations and maximize efficiency.
  • Treasury Management: Oversee and actively trade all funding instruments required for daily operations, including cash optimization, stock loan, repo, and foreign exchange. Ensure optimal management of liquidity and funding working closely with the DFO’s Finance and Accounting Pillar.
  • Tax Efficiency: Partner with Portfolio Implementation to optimize trading strategies for tax efficiency. This includes asset class selection, trading frequency, and opportunity-specific investments.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain expert knowledge of global regulatory regimes and market-specific nuances, with particular attention to China and India market access.
  • Systematic Trading Approach: Distinguish from traditional trading roles by focusing on execution research and system-building to systematically improve trading outcomes.
  • Additional duties as assigned

  • ​Adept and experienced at both quantitative research and building an automated infrastructure.
  • ​In possession of a robust knowledge of the myriad components in the electronic trading space (futures, forex, cash equity, government bonds, etc.).
  • ​Comfortable with extensive travel to various global jurisdictions in support of the global trading goals.
  • Open-minded, humble, and driven to holding excellence as the bar.
  • ​Passionate about the meritocratic culture described by Ray Dalio in his book Principles: Life and Work.​

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in building and automating trading systems, preferably within a multi-asset or global market environment.
  • Strong coding and quantitative research skills.
  • Deep understanding of trading instruments including cash, stock loans, repo, and foreign exchange.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage treasury operations and optimize funding.
  • Expertise in global regulatory compliance, especially with China and India market access.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and communicate effectively with brokers, banks, and partners.
  • Systematic thinker with a passion for improving processes and execution efficiency.

 

Compensation:

Compensation for the role includes a competitive salary in the range from $700,000 -$850,000 (inclusive of a merit-based bonus, dependent on years of experience, level of education obtained, as well as applicable skillset) and an excellent benefits package, including a comprehensive employer paid medical plan and generous employer match for 401k.
