We're seeking an experienced Head of Global Payments to lead and direct our Global Accounts Payable function across the Flutter Group. You'll be responsible for the controlled disbursement of payments worth over $5bn per year. You will manage a group of nearly 30 individuals across 6 international locations. This is a pivotal role ensuring payment processes are consistent, effective and efficient across our largest brands including FanDuel, Paddy Power, Betfair, Sky Betting & Gaming, PokerStars, and Tombola. You will play an instrumental role in our Polaris Finance Transformation programme, setting global payment standards and driving process automation and system improvements.

What you’ll do

  • Demonstrate consistent leadership excellence as a senior member of the finance team
  • Build and inspire a high-performance, high-quality culture within the Global Finance Services function
  • Lead, develop and empower a team of approximately 30 people across 6 global locations
  • Foster a strong controls culture with fraud prevention and detection measures
  • Attract, select and develop high-calibre talent while building career development opportunities
  • Direct the overall strategy and operation of the worldwide Accounts Payable area, ensuring alignment with CFO strategy and the Polaris Finance Transformation programme
  • Drive standardisation of payment processes and procedures across the Group, delivering consistent, controlled and efficient solutions
  • Manage the timely and accurate processing of high-volume invoices and tax payments for all business units
  • Lead business integration projects for newly acquired or developed businesses, ensuring appropriate payment standards are applied globally
  • Oversee the centralised Travel & Expenses audit and payment process
  • Work collaboratively with Procurement, Treasury, Tax and Finance Technology teams to optimise end-to-end processes
  • Drive automation initiatives (e.g. OCR technology) where there is a clear business case
  • Produce relevant, timely reporting and KPI measures; address issues proactively
  • Ensure strong adherence to balance sheet reconciliation and month-end processes
  • Ensure all controls are effectively executed and the overall end-to-end process is well controlled

How you’ll do it

  • Minimum 8+ years' experience in financial services or industry, preferably in a US GAAP multi-national/plc environment
  • Strong finance operations experience, including Procure-to-Pay environment with significant payments-related experience
  • Solid understanding of key controls in controlled environments (SOX or equivalent) and experience developing/implementing process improvements
  • Strong Financial Systems experience – Oracle Financials advantageous
  • Excellent MS Office skills, particularly Excel
  • 2.1 Honours degree (primary or post-graduate) in a relevant field
  • Assertive and confident; able to operate credibly with senior team members
  • Excellent communicator with strong influencing and presentation skills
  • Motivational leader and team builder with a hands-on management approach
  • Strategic thinker with strong process, technical and analytical skills combined with commercial acumen
  • High energy, drive and resilience; flexible and adaptable in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment
