We’re scaling fast and staying true to what makes us different: an open-source legacy, a global collaborative culture, and a passion for meaningful work. Our team thrives in an innovation-driven environment where transparency, autonomy, and trust fuel everything we do.

You may not meet every requirement, and that’s okay. If this role excites you, we’d love you to raise your hand for what could be a truly career-defining opportunity.

The Opportunity:

We’re seeking a Head of Global Equity Administration to establish and lead Grafana Labs’ equity administration function from the ground up. This role will own the design, implementation, and ongoing management of our global equity programs as we transition from a legacy equity platform to a public-company-ready solution. We’re investing in building best-in-class equity infrastructure that supports our employees, leadership team, and potential future public shareholders.

This is a highly visible, hands-on role for someone who thrives in complex transitions, values precision, and brings a modern mindset — including thoughtful use of AI — to scale equity operations efficiently and accurately.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Establish and lead the stock administration function, including policies, processes, controls, and systems
  • Lead the transition from an existing legacy equity platform to a scalable, public-company-ready equity administration system, including vendor selection, data migration, testing, and go-live
  • Own cap table integrity and equity data accuracy throughout the platform transition and beyond
  • Design, implement, and manage global equity compensation programs (e.g., stock options, RSUs, public-company, ESPP readiness)
  • Oversee the full equity lifecycle: grants, vesting, exercises, cancellations, terminations, modifications, and settlements
  • Partner with Finance and Legal to support public-company readiness, including disclosures, governance, internal controls, and audit requirements
  • Ensure accurate and timely equity accounting in accordance with ASC 718 and public-company standards
  • Oversee 409A valuation processes and ensure ongoing compliance
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, including equity platforms, valuation firms, tax advisors, and external auditors
  • Partner closely with People, Benefits & Compensation, and Recruiting to ensure equity programs are clearly communicated and well understood
  • Prepare equity processes and systems to be SOX-ready and scalable for a public-company environment
  • Leverage automation, data analytics, and AI-enabled tools to improve data validation, reconciliation, reporting, and operational efficiency
  • Apply sound judgment around the use of AI in equity administration, with a focus on data integrity, security, explainability, and appropriate controls

What Makes You a Great Fit:

  • 10+ years of experience in stock administration, equity compensation, or related roles
  • Proven experience building and scaling an equity administration function in a high-growth company
  • Hands-on experience leading a transition from a legacy equity platform to a modern, public-company-ready equity system
  • Direct experience supporting IPO readiness and/or operating as a public company
  • Deep knowledge of equity compensation plans, cap table management, and related tax and regulatory requirements
  • Strong understanding of equity accounting (ASC 718) and internal control frameworks
  • Experience administering equity programs across multiple countries and jurisdictions
  • Demonstrated ability or strong mindset toward using AI, automation, and advanced tooling to improve accuracy, efficiency, and insight in equity operations
  • High attention to detail combined with the ability to manage complex projects and timelines
  • Clear, confident communicator who can explain equity concepts to employees, executives, and the Board
  • Ability to operate independently in a fast-moving, less-structured environment

Bonus Points For:

  • Certified Equity Professional (CEP) designation
  • Experience implementing ESPPs or public company equity programs
  • Familiarity with SOX compliance and public-company reporting
  • Experience partnering with engineering or data teams on systems integrations or automation
  • Experience working in a globally distributed, remote-first organization
