In this role you will report to the Head of Pricing Strategy. This position is responsible for supporting the profitable growth of the Group Insurance blocks of business. Responsibilities include experience monitoring, market level analysis, and evaluating and implementing pricing strategies for all Group coverages.
You will
Establish an allowable expense pricing model that aligns with operating plan
Monitor emerging variances between actual and pricing expenses, and proactively make recommendations to address gaps
Partner with Distribution, Finance, and Underwriting teams to establish a distribution compensation pricing strategy that aligns to market needs while achieving organizational goals
Implement Distribution compensation budget framework aligned to pricing and Pay for Performance management model
Develop and maintain expense pricing models for large market cases, leveraging unit cost study results and incorporating case-specific characteristics
Analyze current pricing expense slopes, benchmark against market data and unit cost studies, and recommend updates to ensure competitive and accurate pricing
Drive consistency in expense assumptions across the pricing organization, including new business, renewals, actual to expected performance reporting, and new business value reporting
Collaborate with Finance to design and implement acquisition versus maintenance expense studies, integrating findings into durational pricing models
You have
A deep understanding of group pricing practices including the use of experience
Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Strong collaboration and communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to communicate pricing analyses to technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to manage multiple projects with multiple deliverables simultaneously
Adapts to changing business priorities and environments
Fellow Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation or equivalent group finance experience
Strong analytical and technical skills with the ability to synthesize sophisticated information
Data visualization, machine learning, and predictive analytics experience preferred
Location:
Hybrid role - 3 days in a Guardian office located in Holmdel, NJ; Bethlehem PA; or Hudson Yards, NYC. 2 days WFH. 10% Travel to other offices as determined by the People Leader
Salary Range:
$126,910.00 - $208,495.00The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
