Head of Detection Engineering
Role Summary
S&P Global is looking for a talented individual with a deep understanding of the security operations and engineering space. The head of Detection Engineering will lead the strategy, development, and implementation of security monitoring, detection and automation logic. This role includes deploying state-of-the art AI capabilities and managing integrations and alerting across multiple industry standard tools. The head of Detection Engineering will report to the head of Cyber Defense and be responsible for the SIEM and SOAR platforms, related automation and integrations, and additional key risk functions within the CISO organization.
Key Responsibilities
Define and execute the security engineering strategy and multi-year roadmap aligned to business goals and risk tolerance.
Interface with technology teams across multiple business divisions, along with the Cloud and Infrastructure teams to accommodate new projects and released.
Take up existing projects and roadmaps with a focus on delivering industry best-practices across the space.
Manage a team of Security Engineers globally to achieve the stated objectives.
Interface with industry experts to deliver AI-enabled security detections and improve operational workflows across the SOC.
Manage to a set of core executive metrics, ensuring operations teams are well positioned to detect and respond to complex modern threats.
Work with industry leaders in the detection engineering space to continually improve our capabilities and stay ahead of the market.
This team is uniquely positioned to innovate and support the newly evolving multi-asset business in SPDJI. Operating with client-centric, business-driven, and solution-oriented principles, the team works in a fast-paced, innovative, and collaborative structure that drives meaningful impact across S&P Global's expanding portfolio.
• Design and implement scalable data engineering solutions to support multi-asset index calculations and analytics
• Build and maintain robust ETL pipelines for processing large volumes of financial market data across various asset classes
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver data-driven solutions that enhance client experience and business outcomes
• Optimize data workflows and infrastructure to ensure high performance, reliability, and accuracy of index data processing
• Support the development of innovative data products and analytics capabilities for SPDJI's expanding multi-asset business
• Participate in architectural decisions and contribute to the evolution of the data platform supporting next-generation index solutions
Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates)
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $142,000 to $230,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.
In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan.

Required Qualifications
10+ years in security engineering and/or security tools management
5+ years leading teams including hiring, performance management, and org design.
Proven experience working in an environment with hybrid-cloud infrastructure.
Experience with leading SIEM, SOAR, and Threat-Intelligence products across the industry.
Working knowledge of key SIEM and SOAR platforms such as (Splunk, SecOps, Xsoar, Sentinal, D3)
Strong background in application security and modern SDLC/CI/CD practices.
Demonstrated ability to run large, cross-functional security initiatives and deliver outcomes at scale.
Excellent communication skills: can influence engineering leaders and explain technical risk to non-technical stakeholders
