Clio

Head of Demand Generation

Remote - NY, USA Full time

Clio is the global leader in legal AI technology, empowering legal professionals and law firms of every size to work smarter, faster, and more securely.

We are transforming the legal experience for all by bettering the lives of legal professionals while increasing access to justice.

Summary:

We are looking for a Director of Demand Generation at a pivotal moment in our growth trajectory across Canada (excluding Québec), the US, or based out of our Vancouver, Calgary, or Toronto hub offices.

As the category leader in legal tech, we’ve scaled to $400M+ ARR - primarily through a marketing driven, SMB motion - and we’re not slowing down. This role sits at the top of our demand generation function, reporting directly into the VP of Growth Marketing and serving as their strategic right-hand on North American customer acquisition for small and mid-sized law firms.

This is a builder, not a maintainer, role. We need someone ready to look critically at what we’ve built, identify where we go next, and lead the next stage of growth. You’ll lead a high performing team, own a significant budget, and reshape how Clio acquires customers at scale.

Who you are:

You’ve been in the trenches of high-growth B2B SaaS; not just running campaigns, but building and rebuilding the engines that drive serious revenue. You know what it looks like when a demand gen function is firing on all cylinders, and more importantly, you know how to get it there.

You’re equally comfortable presenting a sophisticated demand gen vision to the executive team as you are getting into the weeds on a campaign brief. You lead with data but think in stories. You’ve built and led sizable teams, and the people who’ve worked for you will attest that you made them better.

You thrive in ambiguity - you don’t need a playbook handed to you, you’d rather write it. You’ve worked across marketing-led, target account, and PLG motions and know how to match the right strategy to the right segment.

What you’ll work on:

  • Demand Gen Strategy Evolution: Own the North American SMB Demand Generation strategy from day one. Audit what’s working, identify what isn’t, and build a forward-looking roadmap for the next stage of growth. This is a significant strategic undertaking, and it’s yours to lead.

  • Strategic Leadership: Work in lock-step with the VP of Growth Marketing, helping shape the broader customer acquisition vision while owning execution of the demand gen pillar. You’ll be a trusted partner on how the team operates.

  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead and develop a sizable team of high performing demand generation professionals. You’ll build an environment where people do the best work of their careers.

  • Pipeline & Revenue Ownership: Define and own demand gen’s contribution to pipeline and new SMB logo targets. You’ll set the KPIs, build the reporting frameworks, and be the person the business looks to for clarity on what’s driving growth.

  • Scalable Program Development: Identify new channels, test new plays, and scale what works. You’ll bring a builder’s mindset; never content with the status quo, always looking for the next lever.

  • Market Narrative & Category Leadership: Own the narrative shift that positions Clio as the leader in Legal AI. You'll translate this narrative into demand gen programs that resonate with the small and mid sized law firms and differentiate Clio.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build strong partnerships with Sales, Revenue Operations, Product Marketing, and the broader Marketing Leadership Team, ensuring demand gen is tightly integrated with the full customer acquisition funnel.

  • Budget Stewardship: Own and optimize a significant marketing budget, making smart allocation decisions that maximize impact and return across channels.

  • AI-Forward Innovation: Champion the use of AI across demand generation workflows and programs, keeping Clio ahead of the curve as the landscape evolves.

What you have:

  • 10+ years of B2B SaaS marketing experience, with at least 5+ years in senior marketing leadership roles

  • Proven demand gen success in growing complex SMB go-to-market (GTM) strategies in high scale ($200M+ ARR), multi-segment, high growth organizations

  • Deep expertise across the full demand gen toolkit - paid, organic, content, events, ABM, PLG - with the strategic acumen to know how and when to deploy each

  • Experience building and leading teams of 8+, with a genuine reputation as a developer of talent

  • Exceptional communication and executive presence - you can simplify complexity, tell a compelling story with data, and hold a room

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate at a senior level with Sales, RevOps, and Finance to align demand gen strategy with broader business objectives

  • Comfort operating in a high-ambiguity, high-growth environment where the strategy is still being shaped - and an appetite to shape it
