The London Metal Exchange (LME) is the world centre for industrial metals trading. Most of the world’s global non-ferrous futures business is conducted on the LME’s three trading platforms totalling $18 trillion, 178 million lots and 4 billion tonnes with a market open interest high of 1.8 million lots in 2024.
The metals community uses the LME, an HKEX Group company, as a venue to transfer or take on price risk, as a physical market of last resort and as the provider of transparent global reference prices.
Overall Purpose of Role
The LME Data Office is responsible for data across the Group. You will be responsible for leading that Data Office managing the organisation’s data ensuring it is understood, structured, accurate, secure and compliant with regulations with the purpose of:
Developing and enhancing data management strategy
Defining and upholding good data governance
Ensuring data is well structured, understood and used appropriately by the organization
Empowering data users to understand the data, driving decision making
Improving the structure of data to accelerate data change
Maintaining data analytics capability
Responsibilities
Team leadership of the Data Office including supporting individuals in their development
Developing and enhancing the data management strategy including the operating model
Defining and upholding good data governance
Ensuring data is well structured, understood and used appropriately by the organization
Establishing and enforcing organisation-wide standards for data management, analytics practices, and reporting to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance across all business units
Empower data users to understand the data, driving decision making and accelerate change
Driving resiliency of data and data systems
Managing data risks
Maintaining a data analytics capability supporting the organization to analyse data.
Maintaining good working relationships with key stakeholders to communicate data activities and ensure the organisation’s data needs are met
Partnering with product teams to deliver tooling to support the Data Office
Running the Data Office working group
Desirable Academic and Professional Qualifications Required
Degree level qualification
CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) – desired but not essential
Required Knowledge and Level of Experience
Proven experience of running a Data Office and knowledge of the regulatory requirements
Experienced in data strategy execution, including running working groups and reporting
Ability to understand complex data flows
