In this role, you will lead Corporate Audit’s Data, Emerging Technology and AI Audit team, reporting directly to the Global Head of Technology and Cyber Audit. You will oversee a team of auditors focused on understanding and assessing risks and controls related to data governance, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies across the State Street enterprise. This includes managing relationships with business stakeholders, ensuring audits are completed in compliance with Corporate Audit methodology and Institute of Internal Auditors’ standards, and developing audit team skillsets in advanced technology domains. The role can be based in Boston, MA-US; Quincy, MA-US; Clifton, NJ-US; Toronto, ON-CA; London, UK; Bangalore, IN.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
Lead and Oversee Audit Coverage: Develop, own, and execute a global assurance plan and audit methodology for data governance, AI risk management, and emerging technology activities, including continuous monitoring of regulatory developments and best practices.
Manage and Develop Teams: Build, coach, and maintain a high-performing global team with advanced data, AI/ML, and technology assurance skillsets; oversee talent management, staff evaluation, and hiring processes.
Engage Stakeholders and Influence Change: Proactively manage relationships with senior management, regulators, and other stakeholders; provide insights to drive sustainable improvements in processes and controls.
Deliver Audit Outcomes: Draft, review, and communicate audit findings and reports to executive management; participate in steering committees and working groups to promote balanced discussions and continuous improvement.

What you will be responsible for
As Head of Data, Emerging Technology and AI Audit, you will:
Create and maintain audit approaches and coverage methodology for data governance, AI, and emerging technology areas.
Define and execute a multi-year risk-based plan for coverage of in-scope areas.
Build and maintain advanced data, AI/ML, and technology assurance skillsets on a global team.
Proactively engage with State Street management across various departments, with responsibility for global relationships.
Demonstrate strong proficiency in evaluating and testing data management, AI governance and controls, and emerging technology risks.
Influence effective and sustainable improvements to processes and controls through insights gained based on risk and control expertise.
Manage, coach, and develop staff, including participating in talent management, staff evaluation, and new hire processes.
Champion continuous improvement and process efficiency in the department.
Draft, review, finalize, and communicate audit deliverables, including audit findings, memos, and audit reports to senior and executive management.
Participate as a non-voting member of various steering committees and management working groups, promoting balanced discussions and encouraging challenge and debate.
Provide insight on the evolving data, AI, and technology regulatory environment and interact with global regulators.|

Education & Preferred Qualifications
Relevant Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Technology, Accountancy, or other relevant field. Postgraduate qualifications are desired but not mandatory.
One industry-recognized certification (e.g., CPA, CIA, CISA, CISSP, CISM, CDMP, AAIA, AAISM or equivalent) required.
15+ years of experience with assurance, ideally in financial services, data governance and risk management, and technology innovation.
Proven ability to learn innovative products and technologies and execute related assurance.
Deep experience with assurance in a number of the following: Data governance, data privacy, and data protection controls; AI/ML risk management, including AI model development, validation, deployment, and monitoring; Algorithmic bias, fairness, explainability, and ethical considerations in AI systems; Data quality, lineage, and integrity across complex technology environments; Regulatory compliance related to data and AI (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, EU AI Act)
Experience auditing new financial technologies (e.g., digital assets, tokenization)
Audit experience in public accounting or internal audit, focusing on regulated industries.
Demonstrated experience in leading and developing diverse teams, and overseeing multiple large-scale projects.
Salary Range:
€110 000 - €233 750 AnnualThe range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
