Job Description
How you’ll make an impact
As our first Head of Data, you will lay the foundations of a modern data capability at the heart of Henry Schein One. You’ll define how data is collected, governed, transformed, and used across our products and business to power intelligent, AI-driven workflows and commercial insight.
You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping a future where data underpins every decision we make; from how we build our products, to how we operate our business, to how dentists run their practices. You will establish the infrastructure, strategy and culture that transform data into a core business asset, unlocking opportunities for automation, personalisation, and innovation at scale.
This is an opportunity to build something from the ground up: a world-class data function that connects analytics, engineering, and data science under a shared mission to create measurable customer and commercial value.
What you'll do
Build the data capability from scratch, defining the strategy, roadmap, and architecture for data engineering, analytics, and data science.
Design and implement a modern data platform that supports real-time insights, business intelligence, and AI-powered product capabilities.
Unlock the power of Dentally’s extensive data to create immediate, meaningful value. You’ll turn data into actionable insights that improve operational efficiency for practices and power smarter, more personalised products.
Recruit, lead, and develop a high-performing data team, spanning data engineering, analytics, and science disciplines.
Establish strong data governance, quality, and security practices, ensuring compliance, reliability, and trust in our data.
Champion data-driven decision making across the organisation, helping every team use data to drive clarity, focus, and better outcomes.
Partner with Product, Engineering, Design and Commercial leaders to align data investments with business impact, accelerating delivery of key initiatives like AI-driven features, customer insights, and pricing optimisation.
Define and monitor data KPIs, connecting operational and financial metrics to business outcomes.
Collaborate with product teams to provide the data foundations that power next-generation features such as predictive analytics and intelligent automation.
Promote a culture of experimentation, enabling teams to learn from data, iterate faster, and continuously improve.
Coach team members in best practices, fostering a culture of continuous development and always lead by example
Motivate and inspire your team to reach and exceed all set targets and KPIs
Maintain a trusting, collaborative environment, enabling the team to thrive
Lead the recruitment efforts for your team, identifying and hiring top talent
Promote an inclusive and diverse culture, in line with the Henry Schein One values
What you’ll bring with you
Proven experience leading data disciplines (engineering, analytics, science) within a SaaS or technology-driven organisation.
Demonstrated success building and scaling a data function from the ground up, with a focus on starting lean and delivering business value to gain further investment.
Strong track record of using data to drive measurable commercial outcomes and influence executive decision-making.
Extensive experience with data & analytics platforms (AWS Redshift, Domo, Mixpanel) or similar technologies
Experience with machine learning platforms (AWS SageMaker, Bedrock) and familiarity with generative AI & LLM technologies
Hands-on understanding of modern data architecture (cloud platforms, pipelines, warehousing, BI, MLOps).
Experience working alongside Product, Engineering and Design teams to embed data into product features and AI models.
Clear understanding of data governance, security, and compliance in a global or regulated environment.
Strategic thinking with the ability to deliver both long-term vision and short-term execution.
Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data concepts into business impact.
Curiosity and a learning mindset: you thrive on solving ambiguous problems and bringing structure to complexity.
