This pivotal role is responsible for protecting ING’s integrity by leading global investigations into suspected unethical or illegal activities — including fraud, theft, and compliance breaches — thereby safeguarding the bank’s reputation, assets, and financial health.
As Head of CSI, you will be a visible Orange Code ambassador, embodying ING’s values while navigating complex, high-stakes matters with discretion, integrity, and sound judgment. You will foster a culture of trust and accountability, and provide strategic counsel to ING’s most senior leaders on sensitive integrity topics. You will lead a direct team of 14 dedicated professionals, including the leads for Special Investigations and Digital Investigations. In addition to your direct reports, you will have functional oversight of Special Investigations Units across ING’s international network, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment with global standards. This global reach requires a collaborative mindset and the ability to navigate diverse cultural and regulatory environments with confidence and tact.
Your impact
As Head of CSI, you will:
- Lead and shape the global strategy and execution of Special Investigations, Enhanced Reliability Screenings, and Digital Investigations.
- Oversee internal investigations across all levels of the organization, including senior management.
- Own and evolve the CSI charter, policies, standards, and guidelines, ensuring alignment with ING’s risk and compliance frameworks.
- Provide expert advice and strategic insight to senior executives (Executive Board/Management Board Banking), General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, and Chief HR Officer on sensitive integrity-related matters.
- Build and maintain a global knowledge community, fostering collaboration and continuous learning across CSI domains.
- Represent CSI within ING’s Corporate Audit Services (CAS) and contribute to the Global CAS Management Team.
Your leadership profile
You are:
- A trusted advisor with a strong moral compass, known for handling sensitive matters with the highest level of confidentiality.
- A collaborative leader who builds high-performing, inclusive teams and inspires others to succeed.
- A strategic thinker who balances stakeholder interests and drives results, even in challenging circumstances.
- A change agent who continuously improves processes with a focus on proportionality and effectiveness.
- A role model for ING’s Orange Code values — integrity, responsibility, and transparency.
Your expertise
You bring:
- 15+ years of senior leadership experience in investigations (public and/or private sector).
- A university degree or equivalent, with proven expertise in interpreting laws, regulations, and internal policies (Law enforcement, Master of Investigations, MSC in Criminal Investigations, Forensic Accounting).
- Deep knowledge of Special Investigations, Digital Investigations, and Enhanced Reliability Screenings.
- Experience managing cross-border investigations and coordinating with regulators, law enforcement, and internal stakeholders (Legal, Compliance, HR, Audit).
- Analytical and investigative mindset with attention to detail.
- Strong ethical compass and ability to remain objective.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English for high-stakes reporting (including MBB and SB). Additional languages are a plus.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage urgent, sensitive cases globally.
- Experience working across geographies and risk domains, with a global mindset.
