Job Summary
To lead the design and execution of data-driven control analytics that enhance control effectiveness, risk identification, and decision-making across Absa Bank Kenya. The role enables proactive risk management by leveraging advanced analytics, dashboards, and trend analysis to identify emerging risks and improve the control environment.
Embed proactive analytics into the execution and monitoring of operational risk policies and ERMF requirements.
Work with business and CDO to offer Control analytics leads and track actions accordingly
Steer trend analysis to identify emerging risks through requests from CDO data analysis.
Develop and maintain control dashboards from analysis platforms.
Ensure that all Significant Control and Material Issues are identified, tracked, and resolved efficiently using analytical approaches.
Give insights to CDO to enable data-enabled root cause analysis to uncover systemic issues
Job Description
Key accountabilities/Deliverables/Outcomes
Control Analytics Strategy – 30%
- Develop and implement a Control analytics strategy for control monitoring and risk identification.
- Build and maintain advanced dashboards and analytics platforms to provide real-time insights into control performance.
- Use predictive analytics and request CDO for Data trend analysis to identify emerging risks and vulnerabilities.
Risk & Control Insights – 30%
- Provide Control Analytics driven insights to governance forums, senior management, and business units.
- Monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and control metrics, ensuring alignment with audit and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct thematic reviews and deep dives using analytics to uncover systemic issues.
MI & Reporting – 20%
- Produce monthly and quarterly analytics reports for governance committees.
- Get involved in challenging control reporting dashboards
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy in all control-related reports.
- Support the embedding of analytics into Operational Risk Standards.
Stakeholder Engagement – 10%
- Partner with business units, Compliance, and Audit to align analytics outputs with strategic priorities.
- Influence decision-making through clear, actionable insights.
People & Capability Development – 10%
- Build and lead a high-performing analytics team.
- Champion innovation and continuous improvement in data analytics practices.
- Drive training initiatives to enhance data literacy across the Controls function.
Key Deliverables
- Control dashboards and analytics platforms.
- Monthly governance analytics packs.
- Predictive risk models and trend analysis reports.
- Insights for audit readiness and thematic reviews.
Preferred Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in (Commerce or equivalent qualification)
Preferred Experience
- (8) years (Technical/Managerial) experience

- Personal & Interpersonal Skills: Including Communication & Influence and Collaboration
- Proven experience and application of risk management policies and detailed knowledge of current risk policies and regulatory changes impacting the financial sector
- Auditing/Assurance/Risk/Rigour and investigative skills under a risk-based methodology
- Understanding of key risks faced by banks and core control of environment
- Knowledge of the Bank’s governance requirements
