The Team You'll Work With

You’ll be leading Carta’s Communications Team reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer.

As Senior Manager, Communications, you’ll steward the company’s public narrative, drive trust, visibility, and influence in the technology and private markets communities. You will also manage and execute internal communications moments, projects and programs. 
The Senior Manager at Carta plays a critical role in shaping the company's public narrative, elevating its position as the infrastructure powering private markets. They drive strategic communications that influence how investors, founders, and the media understand Carta’s mission, products, and industry leadership. By managing external perception and amplifying thought leadership, they help build trust, brand equity, and market momentum.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Co-create and drive strategic communications to elevate Carta’s global market presence. Develop and execute PR strategies that amplify Carta’s position as the ERP for private capital in partnership with our PR agencies (US, EU, and AMEA). Expand positive brand awareness with key segments including private equity, private credit, venture capital and limited partners. Ensure Carta’s ERP platform is consistently represented in high-impact media coverage in all key regions.
  • Oversee PR agencies and speaking consultants to maximize impact. Act as the day-to-day contact for Carta’s PR agency in the US and outside speaker bureau as well as conducting ongoing coordination and collaboration with EU and AMEA marketing teams and agencies ensuring alignment in narrative across key regions.
  • Tell Carta’s innovation story with purpose and precision. Craft compelling narratives that position Carta as a category-defining innovator at the intersection of fintech, AI, employee empowerment, startup culture, and private markets. Use thoughtful storytelling and targeted media engagement in partnership with agency resources to build lasting brand equity and shape public perception. Work with global PR agencies to ensure global reach for major narratives.
  • Manage internal communications in partnership with People team, the Office of the CMO and other key stakeholders. Act as a resource for strategic internal communications including organizational initiatives, companywide rollouts and other major internal inflection points.
  • Lead integrated PR campaigns that highlight Carta’s business momentum. Own communications around product/technology developments, acquisitions, strategic partnerships, data-driven insights, policy thinking, customer success stories, and more. Work cross-functionally to ensure these narratives showcase Carta’s scale, credibility, and innovation across its product offerings and resonate in all key regions. Ladder comms strategies into overall business and marketing objectives, working with Chief of Staff and marketing leadership to connect into annual and quarterly goals.
  • Amplify strategic partnerships to expand Carta’s influence. Collaborate with the Corporate Development team and Alliances Marketing  to raise the profile of high-impact partnerships. Shape and share joint narratives that resonate with tech, private markets and business media. Build co-marketing comms programs that drive mutual value and brand visibility.
  • Advance executive visibility through thought leadership. Partner with Carta’s leadership team, outside speaker bureau team and content leads to design and run a comprehensive thought leadership program, including bylined content, speaking opportunities, award submissions, and top-tier media engagements. Ensure executives are seen as credible voices on AI, private market infrastructure, the startup ecosystem and modern finance trends.
  • Position Carta as a trusted resource to media and influencers. Cultivate strong relationships with business, finance, tech, and policy press. Extend outreach to industry analysts, ecosystem influencers, and third-party advocates to reinforce Carta’s strategic voice in the market.
  • Foster collaboration and communications excellence across the company. Work seamlessly with legal, finance, marketing, and product teams to ensure comms messaging is accurate, consistent, and compelling. Enable fast, coordinated execution in a dynamic and high-growth environment.
  • Support crisis communications as needed, with agency support and the Legal team.
  • Oversee and work cross-functionally with international marketing teams and PR agencies to ensure consistency of Carta’s presence in market. 

About You

  • A strategic and analytical thinker who can distill complex technical and product concepts for a media audience 
  • 8+ years of experience in B2B PR and Communications with at least 3 years in-house
  • Must have good relationships with tech and business (private equity and private credit is a plus!) 
  • The ability to bring people along in planning and act as a team unifier in meeting goals
  • Comfort and agility in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience overseeing a public relations agency 
  • An understanding of how subfunctions of marketing come together to create impact 
  • A level of character that builds trust and exemplifies working collaboratively 
  • BA required 
  • SaaS experience 

Carta’s compensation package includes a market competitive salary, equity for all full time roles, exceptional benefits, and, for applicable roles, commissions plans. Our minimum cash compensation (salary + commission if applicable) range for this role is: $172,000 - $215,000  in San Francisco and New York. Final offers may vary from the amount listed based on geography, candidate experience and expertise, and other factors.
