POSITION SUMMARY:  

The Cultivation Supervisor oversees and supports the cultivation team to ensure seamless operations and the production of high-quality cannabis. The Cultivation Supervisor assists in all day-to-day management responsibilities across the various parts of the cultivation facility including but not limited to cloning, vegetation, transplanting, flowering, pruning, irrigation, nutrient systems, IPM, harvest, waste disposal, and inventory management. This position will be expected to keep detailed records across the specific areas of cultivation to ensure our team meets company quality standards and state compliance expectations.  

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

  • Assist in the management of a large-scale cultivation facility. 
  • Lead a team of Cultivation Leads and Associates in the performance of cultivation tasks such as watering, feeding, defoliating, transplanting, organizing, cleaning cultivation spaces and operator-level maintenance in the vegetative garden space. 
  • Lead and support additional department functions such as sanitation, room preparation, mother plant care, cloning, etc. 
  • Ensure product integrity; making sure plant quality is maintained while being cloned, grown and harvested 
  • Ensure the documented and effective training of the entire cultivation team. 
  • Support the department core metrics (quantity, quality, and productivity objectives). 
  • Support tracking and recordkeeping functions with the state seed-to-sale e-system MJ Freeway remaining in compliance with DOH rules and regulations. 
  • Train and coach team members in accordance with SOP. 
  • Utilize and maintain production data files, records, and reports such as the Daily Hour-by-Hour Tracker, load plans, grow schedules, and plant inventory. 
  • Manage department specific HR functions including scheduling, employee coaching, year-end reviews, etc. 
  • Perform all the tasks in the grow from clone through harvest while coaching team members, as necessary. 
  • Monitor environmental control systems. 
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment. 
  • Execute schedule to achieve production requirements on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. 
  • Responsible for department and facility KPIs to ensure a culture of continuous improvement. 
  • Awareness of industry best-practices and stay current on new techniques. 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of various cannabis strains. 
  • Maintain cultivation protocols per Curaleaf SOPs and state compliance regulations. 
  • Comply with all HR policies including confidentiality and non-disclosure requirements. 
  • Management of staff over weekends and holidays as required. 
  • Willingness to work on site on a rotational weekend schedule. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

This position directly supervises the work activities of others and makes recommendations concerning selection, termination, performance appraisal, and professional development. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • At least 3 years of cannabis cultivation experience. 
  • Minimum 2 years of management experience supervising 5+ team members.  
  • Strong expertise in multiple media, irrigation techniques, crop rotation, light requirements, environmental controls, plant diseases, pests, nutrient deficiencies, and cannabis genetics. 
  • Proven ability to build a cohesive team and manage employee performance with confidence. 
  • Strong time-management skills and the ability to plan, prioritize, and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.   
  • Commitment to confidentiality and compliance in all aspects of the role.  

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

 

  • Indoor cultivation experience preferred.  
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as kaizen, 5S, or Six Sigma is a plus. 
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and compliance standards in cannabis cultivation. 

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk or hear, use hands to finger or feel, reach with hands and arms, and lift up to 50 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 100 pounds. This position requires close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point), depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships).

Ability to work in an ever-changing environment.
