The Live Hanger is responsible for safely and efficiently handling live poultry and placing birds onto the processing line in a humane and timely manner. This role is essential to maintaining production flow and ensuring animal welfare standards are upheld.
Key Responsibilities:
Hang birds by their legs onto the processing shackle line.
Ensure birds are handled humanely and in accordance with company and regulatory guidelines.
Maintain a steady pace to meet production line requirements. Hang 25 to 28 BPM according to line speed.
Monitor birds for signs of injury or illness and report concerns to supervisors.
Keep work area clean and follow all sanitation procedures.
Adhere to all safety policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Assist with other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications:
Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment. Hang 25 to 28 BPM according to line speed.
Comfortable working with live animals.
Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive motions.
Capable of lifting, bending, and reaching throughout the shift.
Willingness to work in varying conditions (temperature, humidity, noise).
Strong attention to safety and animal welfare practices.
Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Work Environment:
Exposure to live animals, dust, feathers, and noise.
Cold, wet, and humid conditions typical of poultry processing facilities.
Use of PPE such as gloves, ear protection, and protective clothing required.
Physical Requirements:
Continuous use of hands and arms. Frequent lifting live animals. The 1st four or five hangers are required to hit every 4th or 5th shackle in order to meet their quota and be able to hang the assign number of birds per minute according to daily line speed.
Standing for extended periods (8 shifts).
Repetitive grasping and hanging motions.
Schedule:
Full-time; shifts may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed.
Requirements:
Prior Employee Waiting Period: If you were previously employed at Tyson, there’s a 365-day waiting period before you can reapply.
Number of Times Worked at Tyson: You can apply if you’ve worked at Tyson no more than three times.
Failed Drug Screen - If you had a failed drug screen, you must wait 6 months before reapplying.
