This role is aligned to the Diamond Infrastructure Solutions (“Diamond Infra”) company and will be seconded from Dow to Diamond Infrastructure Solutions until January 1, 2027. At that time, the role will become directly aligned to the Diamond Infrastructure Solutions Company.

About you and this role

As the Hardware Discipline Engineer Manager, you provide specialized technical support and solutions for project teams, operations and maintenance. The Hardware Disciplines within Engineering and Maintenance are comprised of the following disciplines: Buildings, Civil, Electrical, Instrument, Process Analytical, Materials, Mechanical, Process Containment Equipment and Piping. Hardware Disciplines support both projects and technical support teams as a technical expert recognized as a “go to” person within their site/region for their area of expertise, or as discipline lead on projects.

In this role, you act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and work independently, receiving minimal guidance. In the technical expert capacity, at this level, you are primarily involved in application of technology. Resolve problems which are complex. Lead technical problem solving within a specific technology area to deliver value for Dow. Participate on global teams to continuously improve most effective technology (MET) and best practices. In the project lead capacity, have an excellent understanding and applies GPM, MET, their discipline work process and associated best practices to deliver safe, cost effective and efficient solutions that meet the business opportunity plan for both intermediate and large projects.

Responsibilities

In the technical expert capacity:

  • Lead efforts in defining and implementing technology strategy and held accountable for strategy implementation.
  • Identify and develop both technology and work process enhancements which deliver value.
  • Support the implementation of discipline technology strategy and provide input/feedback on the strategy within their area of expertise.
  • Serve as site or regional technology focal point, providing timely technical reviews and input to complex designs and/or variances from MET both on projects and in support of maintenance/operations.


In the project lead capacity:

  • Serve as the leader of the project within their discipline. Has accountability for project results and for the implementation of and adherence to all relevant work processes and best practices.
  • Drive front end loading to ensure clear scope definition along with establishing staffing plans and schedules to enable adequate control during execution.
  • Develop staffing plans, directs activities within their discipline and coordinates activist with other disciplines. For projects which utilize engineering firms, work with your counterpart at the EPC to do so.
  • Lead the completion of deliverables provided to estimating and reviews output of the estimate to ensure accurate reflection of scope.
  • Ensure deliverables meet the needs of the project: function as intended, on time and within budget.
  • Lead technical contract package development and supports implementation.
  • Drive value engineering and economic designs to ensure the best value is delivered to the business
  • Use and enforce project change management program.
  • Ensure safety in design.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree required.
  • At least 6 years of engineering, manufacturing or related experience required.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

  • Technical Leadership & Project Management: Strong leadership and project management abilities to guide technical contract package development and oversee implementation.
  • Value Engineering and Economic Design: Expertise in value engineering and economic design to maximize business value.
  • Change Management: Proficiency in change management processes and ensuring adherence throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Safety in Design: Commitment to safety principles, specifically focusing on safety in design.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across engineering, manufacturing, and related disciplines.
