Anthropic

GTM Narrative Lead

San Francisco, CA | New York City, NY Full Time

About Anthropic

Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.

About the role:

As GTM Narratives Lead at Anthropic, you will own the strategic storytelling that defines how we communicate Claude's capabilities, Anthropic's mission, and the transformative potential of safe AI to enterprise customers and the broader market. You will craft the keynote presentations, executive briefings, and core narratives that shape how leaders, customers, and industry stakeholders understand what we're building and why it matters for the future of AI.

This role goes beyond traditional messaging—you will set the standard for how we position ourselves in the enterprise AI market while ensuring our narratives reflect Anthropic's commitment to developing AI systems that are safe, steerable, and beneficial. You will be responsible for translating complex AI capabilities into compelling stories that resonate with enterprise buyers and accelerate our go-to-market success.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and own executive narratives: Create high-impact keynote presentations, executive briefings, and strategic messaging that articulate Anthropic's vision, competitive differentiation, and unique value proposition in the enterprise AI market
  • Drive cross-functional GTM alignment: Partner closely with product marketing, sales enablement, corporate communications, and executive leadership to ensure cohesive narratives across product launches, industry events, and customer engagements
  • Craft compelling customer transformation stories: Collaborate with enterprise customers to develop and showcase their AI transformation journeys in ways that inspire prospects, validate our approach, and demonstrate real-world impact
  • Shape competitive positioning and messaging: Translate sophisticated AI capabilities and safety features into clear, compelling messages that sales teams and executives can effectively use to differentiate and win deals
  • Lead narrative development without formal authority: Rally cross-functional teams around shared messaging frameworks through storytelling excellence, strategic influence, and collaborative leadership
  • Ensure message consistency and quality: Establish standards and processes for narrative development that maintain consistency while enabling teams to adapt messaging for different audiences and contexts
  • Support major company milestones: Lead narrative development for significant announcements, funding rounds, partnership launches, and other strategic moments

You may be a good fit if you have:

  • 10+ years of experience in product marketing, corporate messaging, or strategic communications at enterprise B2B technology companies
  • Proven track record of crafting executive-level presentations and go-to-market narratives that drive measurable business impact
  • Deep understanding of enterprise buyer journeys and how strategic narratives accelerate complex sales cycles
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to make complex technical concepts accessible and compelling
  • Experience working effectively with senior stakeholders and the judgment to provide strategic messaging counsel, including when to respectfully challenge existing approaches
  • Strong collaborative skills with experience rallying cross-functional teams around shared messaging without formal reporting authority
  • Strategic mindset combined with hands-on execution capabilities—comfortable developing high-level narrative strategy while also crafting specific presentation content

Strong candidates may also have:

  • Experience in AI/ML, enterprise software, or other cutting-edge technology markets
  • Background working with highly regulated industries where trust, safety, and compliance messaging is critical
  • Track record of successful competitive positioning in crowded, rapidly evolving markets
  • Experience developing narratives for developer audiences as well as traditional enterprise buyers
  • Understanding of AI safety principles and the ability to communicate complex technical safeguards in business terms
  • Experience with account-based marketing and supporting enterprise sales processes
  • Background in crisis communications or managing sensitive messaging situations

What you'll be shaping:

Your narratives will become the foundation for our most important market moments—major product launches, industry conferences, customer success stories, and competitive differentiation. You will define how the enterprise AI market understands Anthropic's unique approach to building safe, beneficial AI systems while ensuring our messaging drives pipeline and revenue growth.

This role offers the opportunity to shape the strategic communications of one of the world's leading AI companies at a pivotal moment in the industry's development, while ensuring our narratives reflect our commitment to responsible AI deployment and societal benefit.

How we're different

We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.

The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
