Group Treasury at CommBank plays a critical role in supporting our customers and the broader business by maintaining a strong, resilient balance sheet. Within Group Treasury, the Group Stress Testing team delivers scenario analysis and stress testing insights that inform senior leadership and meet regulatory expectations.

By combining robust modelling, analytics and strong stakeholder engagement, the team assesses the Group’s financial resilience under a range of severe but plausible scenarios.

The Group Stress Testing team is responsible for assessing the strength of the Group’s balance sheet across economic, financial and emerging risk scenarios, within internal risk appetite and regulatory constraints. The team is recruiting for two Managers to support:

  • Effective execution of the Group’s stress testing program;
  • Uplifting the Group’s stress testing models and processes;
  • Modelling initiatives across Group Treasury covering broader balance sheet resilience initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and enhancing credit, income and balance sheet models used to assess profitability, capital and provisioning outcomes under stress scenarios;
  • Driving continuous improvement of stress testing modelling methodologies, processes, controls and documentation;
  • Supporting the execution of regular enterprise-wide stress tests, including balance sheet and financial projections across multiple scenarios;
  • Partnering with stakeholders across Group Treasury, Risk, Finance and the broader Group to deliver high-quality stress testing outcomes; and
  • Contributing to broader balance sheet resilience initiatives, including Resolution Planning.

The team works across a broad range of complex challenges, including credit risk, profitability, capital generation, climate risk and recovery and resolution planning.

We’re interested in hearing from people who have

  • Tertiary qualifications in mathematics, statistics, engineering, economics or similar quantitative discipline;
  • Strong data management and programming capability, with experience in tools such as SQL, R, Python or SAS;
  • Proven experience developing, implementing or maintaining quantitative models;
  • Ability to apply advanced analytical techniques to complex financial and risk-related problems;
  • Experience in financial or credit risk modelling, with an understanding of model risk management (highly desirable);
  • Knowledge of the Australian prudential regulatory environment, including relevant APS prudential standards; and
  • Risk Mindset – All CommBank employees are expected to proactively identify and understand, openly discuss and act on current and future risks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts using simple language
  • Business oriented, positive mind-set, resilient, with a clear focus on outcomes
