If you thrive on building relationships and delivering meaningful community programmes, this could be the role for you!

Who Are We?

Not just another building society. Not just another job.

We're the fourth biggest building society in the UK and what makes us a bit different is that we're a mutual organisation. We don't have shareholders; we're owned by our members.

Our colleagues say Skipton's a great place to work, and you could be one of them, bringing with you new ideas on how we can keep customers at the heart of what we do.

Whatever your background, and whatever your goals, we'll help you take the next step towards a better future.

The Team You’ll Be Joining

You’ll join our Legal, Secretariat & ESG team, reporting to the Group Head of Sustainability. This is a key role working across the Skipton Group businesses to deliver our commitment to donate 1% of Group pre-tax profits to charity each year. You’ll collaborate with teams such as Marketing, Corporate Communications, Diversity & Inclusion, Vulnerable Customer, and People, as well as external charity partners, to maximise our social impact.

What Will You Be Doing?

You’ll play a central role in shaping and delivering our charitable giving and community initiatives. Day to day, you’ll:

  • Manage and coordinate the Group’s charitable giving and local community support schemes, ensuring they run smoothly and deliver real impact.
  • Support with the search for new charity partners, identifying organisations that align with our purpose and values.
  • Develop and manage strategic charity partnerships, creating projects that deliver meaningful outcomes for our communities.
  • Oversee the Skipton Building Society Charitable Foundation and influence its alignment with Group strategy.
  • Enable colleague and member charitable giving and volunteering initiatives to boost engagement and participation.
  • Drive innovation in social impact projects, exploring new opportunities to make a difference.
  • Bring programmes to life through engaging internal and external communications, ensuring visibility and enthusiasm across the Group.
  • Monitor and report on the impact of charitable giving, maintaining strong governance and transparency, and provide key updates to the Sustainability Committee.
  • Raise the Skipton Group’s profile as a responsible and philanthropic organisation through external engagement and advocacy.

What Do We Need From You?

We’re looking for someone who can bring energy and expertise to this space. You’ll need:

  • Evidence of working with charities on partnerships and delivering impactful initiatives.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet varying deadlines.
  • An understanding of best practice in social impact and how to maximise the effectiveness of our programmes.
  • Ability to think innovatively about new approaches to the 1% budget, seeking opportunities to do things differently, streamline processes, and create efficiencies.
  • Wider knowledge of sustainability would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Confident user of PowerPoint and Excel for manipulating data files and preparing board papers.
